I don't know about the rest of you, but I personally am getting kinda bored with Normal/Flying as being the Flying type... Isn't Flying FLYING type!?

I mean come on, they add in a bunch other combinations, but I think Flying is THEE only type has never had a Solo pokemon in it. They always HAVE to have another type... WHY?

Can a solo Flyer not support itself? Sure the move sets they are weak to are some of the most commonly used, IE Electric. I wonder why, Nin/GF/CI. Have never let Flying be solo typed.

I say we should make a stink about it, and Ban ANYMORE Normal/Flying pokemon. Theres too many! Pidgey, Spearow, Doduo, Hoot Hoot, Togepi's evolutions, Taillow, Swablu, Starly, Chatot... O M G ! !

Too too many, and I didn't even include their evolutions! ACK! Something has to be done.

    What do you think?

I think normal-flying types are based on birds, so they combine a type to make one type e.g. grass+poisin=A poisinus plant pokemon(like a flycatcher, stinky plant, weed, etc.)but I'm not sure why there hasn't been a none-flying type.:\

I can't really think of anything (in actual existence) that would be able to fly without being a part of something else. Flying itself should have been more of a characteristic. One put aside from typing and abilities. I mean, look at Flygon. Flying is what it does, yet it isn't a Flying-type. Even worse, in order to make up for that fact, they gave it the Levitate ability, which really shouldn't be the same thing as actual flying. >.>

But I suppose that wouldn't make super-effective hits from Ice, Rock, and Electric attacks possible...eh.

At any rate, I should add that with Roost in the game now, if a Pokémon with just the Flying-type were to use Roost, what would it become? The nothing. x.x

    Yeah... One of the big mysteries in the Pokemon world xD;
I really like the flyings/bird types, and would love the creators if they make a only Flying type!!
Lul Arceus can be a pure Flying type owo

I honestly don't care. If they choose to make more normal/flying types, that's their choice. It really doesn't matter to them either way, since people are going to complain about the pokemon no matter what they are.

Doesn't being paired with the normal type actually make it better? I mean, if I'm figuring this correctly, all adding the normal type does is excange it's resistance for fighting with an immunity to ghosts. Plus, you get STAB for normal attacks also. I really don't see what the big deal is. O_o It's not like we're really missing out on anything that great.

Flying is a secondary Type, one added to another. I don't know if there are more seconday Types (that's always secondary Types). Esper/Psychic should have been one.

I don't see how it even matters. Flying/Normal doesn't make a difference for a pure Flying Pokemon. Like Kenji-kun says, I always thought that it would make it immune to Ghost Pokemon and such. And besides, even if lots of people did agree with you on this, its not like its going to change anything.

there can't bee a just plain flying type cauz of roost, think about it if there is just aflying type guy that uses roost what will become of it, will it suddely be the ??? type, u can just get rid of roost for it, but also, a normal bird should be normal and flying, if it were just flying it would probably just be a wing or something...

Well becuase they wanted people to know that theyre not just flying i guess? Becuas ethey wanted them to be doubled? They thoguht normals didnt have nough? Or they thought that if they just listed it as flying theyd think it wont light down or something...

There are Flying Pokemon that cannot fly. Like Dodorio for instance. Can it fly?

Yeah. I dont understand Normal/flying. I dont even understand normal. I like only like 2 normal type pokemon. Meowth and Eevee. But Flying/normal like Pidgey? Get rid of the normal. It dont belong there.

I've always hated the fact they're always normal and flying and not just flying. Why do they always have to be normal as well? I've never understood that.

I wouldn't go as far as to "ban" them, but we do need regular flying types.

The Roost argument makes me think otherwise, as well as people claiming that flying is a "secondary" typing.

I look at a "Flying type" to just be more of a characteristic that affects the original type, rather than being a whole type itself. I really don't know why... most likely to just explain away the fact that it's apparently not good enough to be its own type by itself.

It's just another problem from RBY then kind of got confusing with the later generations(female Mr. Mime, to name another). In order to distinguish these Pokemon from other Pokemon, they should have had an extra type, known as "Bird," or something similar.

Though that still doesn't make much sense, heh. Though Dodrio would be the only pure Bird Type to date, XD.

    Well, Dodrio can use fly.

It's just tradition. Flying is always added to something- For example, a Squirtle could have been a Normal-Water-type while a dark turtle could have been a Dark-Water type. It's just that they decided that only for birds.

And, yeah, this annoys just for one thing. Flying are good against fighting types, yet Normal fliers do not receive a not very effective damage, just a normal one.

And Chatot was supposed to be the first pure Flying type but that would have been non-traditional.

So, I was sitting here pondering, the points that my thought about Flying pokemon brought up.

Roost for instance, brought up a very good debate for why Flying will most likely never get a solo poke. However... heres how to fix that. Roost means to sit on something and rest yes? Ok, so then,... they loose ONLY their immunity to Ground type. Since it would well... NOT be flying.

Now the idea of Flying being a secondary type.. while at the moment true. It shouldn't be, since it would then be THE only one. Which would kinda make that unbalanced chart wise. I believe someone else brought up the fact that, flying type loses its resistance to Fighting. Because it was paired with Normal.

If there should be secondary types, that are set aside from the Main types. Then, we need some more types, as well as then seeing some of the current ones becoming secondary. Now this sounds like craziness to me. As EVERY other type has a solo type poke. If they made pokemon types secondary, then that would do what to the pokemon with that type and no secondary type? Make them weaker to the primary types? That would create a severe unbalance.

Another way I see the fix this, is to make a secondary type that is set outside the programming, like ??? is. Yes this arguement is different the the above one. Bird type.. yes different than Flying.. Why? Now we are going to add in the Roost arguement. When a Flying type uses Roost. They CHANGE types into Bird. Now, yes then NIntendo would need to comeup with stat fun for Bird. But that would indeed change that problem.

This could even be used in strategy to make Flying type more useful in Trainer battles. Like this... Oh no! An electric type... :uses Roost: :becomes Bird type and gains resistance to Electric: Neener neener!

Is Flying actually a single type at all? Or is it always accompanied by something?

I'd like to ban Normal/Flying, it doesn't even give them Resistance to fighting :\
