base set machamp with second style foil patern?

Hi, I have been out of the Pokemon community for some time now, and recently came to look back over my old cards. I noticed that my Machamp cards have two different foil patterns on them (old style used in base set, fossil, jungle; and the newer style used in base set 2 on) I tried looking up photos of Machamp and couldn't find any with the new style foil pattern. I am wondering - is this rare, or common and I'm just bad at looking up pictures?

That is common for Machamp and any other reprint cards.
Since Base set 2 was just everything reprinted, if you look at most of the cards they all have a different style.

However, since Base Set 2 had no first edition cards, and Base Set Machamp was only ever printed in first edition, these are both Base Set Machamp cards. My guess is that one of them is from the starter set for the Base Set. Though it could be a fake. Run it through all of the checks for fake cards.

I'm pretty sure the Machamp with the newer foil pattern was from the Base 2 starter deck (the one with the CD-ROM).

What I still don't quite get is why they didn't just make it with a Base 2 symbol and only released it in the Starter Deck like they did with the original.
