I don't know if this would be considered roleplay but send out a pokemon and have it defeat the player before it like this.

Persona1: I send out wurmple. Cuz I like bugs.
Persona2: I send out poochyena and tackle til you faint.

Try to like type matchup or set up a real scenario of how the battle would be won.

Ill start with wurmple, go!
