Seeing as though we've received information on the Battle Frontier for HeartGold and SoulSilver, I decided to create this thread to find out your thoughts and opinions on the news.

If you Click Here, you will see from the Official Japanese Site that confirmation of the Battle Frontier appearing in HeartGold and SoulSilver is solid. However, it looks both similar and exact to that of the one in Platinum. So, again what may be your opinions and thoughts on this?

    Original Site: https://www.pokemon.co.jp/special/hgss/introduction/other02.html

EDIT - as the game has been released, it has been confirmed the Battle Frontier is the same as in Platinum, down to Frontier Brains. It is believed this is the case so that the game is compatible with Platinum.

To get moves taught, Win battle to increse your BP,remember!

Well seeing the Platinum Art for the Battle Frontier, I can just think/hope that this picture is a placeholder for the official Battle Frontier Art . Maybe they will amend this in the coming weeks or when the games are released.

When I first noticed this, I myself just considered the use of the picture to be a temporary cause. The information on this is still new and the detail on it may not be finished for releasing news. However, if it were to remain the same, then I would think I know the reason behind it. Seeing as though HeartGold, SoulSilver, and Platinum have compatability the need for the facilities to remain the same could be for link up reasons. By this, I mean that to make players have the chance to battle one another in the Battle Frontier as well as team up like players do today since the release of Platinum. If this is the cause then I see why it will remain the same.

Although, the format of the area could be changed around to have its own look and not resemble exactly to that of Platinum. I don't mind the Battle Frontier making a return once again as it definitely takes use of the game even farther than the originals and a bit of difference wouldn't be bad for the players, but still keeping the compatability with Sinnoh's and Johto's facilities together.

That's interesting that you thought of that. Now that you explained it, I can see the Sinnoh Frontier making an appearance here in Johto (even though I wanted a new one). But I guess it's better than nothing.

I really hate Battle Frontier, I find it to be extremely boring because everyone is the same level always, and you gain no exp, no Pokedex discoveries and your levels are all lowered to the NPC's low level Pokemon, it's just repetitive boring fighting.

Looks kinda identical to Crystal's, with the addition of the BP thing from Emerald. Looks nice.

Anyways, who cares of another Battle Frontier. Maybe if there was a change for the difficuly or so...but don't let us stay without a contest system like FRLG, Gamefreak!

I hope that's not the Battle Frontier

I really dislike it except for the Castle and Arcade.

The Factory has gotten harder :/
and the Hall is kinda hard

Why can't they move back in the Battle Dome and Arena?

    :/

I want different facilties, but apparently not :/
i only like the tower, arcade and castle.
but i see what you mean with compatability issues, though, as its wifi they may change it, because i'm sure people will still play platinum :)

Frankly, I believe it's a placeholder picture. It's the exact same one as before, and the screenshots themselves already show differences from Platinum's one (path, and also the house where BP are used with move tutors inside). I suppose it may be partly that they just don't want to reveal much about it yet (as unlike everything else such as the Safari Zone, they didn't show much at all on the BF yet), and maybe that they haven't simply made any yet, and also part could be down to laziness, mixed with the above two. That and the entrances don't match up either... and logically I doubt the Brains/BF leaders would be the same as well... and some of the games there seem to be designed by or for them, so it may be a bit odd (leastways, in my opinion) for an identical one with a different leader halfway across the Pokemon world. =/

The Wifi point is valid, but IDK if they'd go with that. (Plus, I'd imagine at least the BT and maybe another rental Pokemon one would return, likely, if it did differ anyway allowing for such an option to remain between HG/SS and Platinum? Either that, or they change it so that the host chooses ones from their game?) Depends on how they want to go about it, really.

Then... don't play it? It's optional after all.

I'm going to keep it simple, I want moar facilities (like 7 or 8 of them) and I don't want to see the same facilities, like the battle factory.

I think it would be cool if the Battle Facilities were spread across the region like in Kanto during the anime.

I wouldn't mind a Battle Frontier in HG/SS, because it'd give me an excuse to play the game for even longer. :P For me, Pokemon games aren't so interesting once you've beaten every trainer, and the Frontier's always been a challenge for me.

Like said, you wouldn't have to take part in the Battle Frontier facilities if you don't like it. It isn't a mandatory event in the game, but more so an extra idea implemented for those who do enjoy it. So, if you don't like it, don't play it because that portion of the game is an optional bonus to the game.

More facilities, like in Emerald, would be a nice idea to have back again. It'll give players more of a challenge other than five. Although, it depends on what may appear different in the Johto Battle Frontier compared to if it may be similar or the same to Platinum's. Again, the picture shown can also be a temporary basis until the actual image of the new Battle Frontier is shown. However, places like the Battle Factory stays because it serves a purpose. The Battle Factory has kept its definition of having a variety of Pokémon for both you and the opponent. So, I'd like that to stay, just as the Battle Tower has stayed ever since.

At first I wanted that too, but now that I think about it it's a pretty stupid idea. It just makes the whole thing a lot more inconvenient when you have to fly to a city nearest the facility and then walk there. A centralized battle frontier is the way to go.

Individually placed facilities would work out just as good as if they were gyms in a region. However, like stated by yourself, a designated area does make it easier for the player to travel to. Although, I had once thought about the idea of this as well and I thought it would be pretty neat to see implemented. Though, the space it takes for the facility can very well be utilized for a common house that may be of importance, while the Facilities have their own importance in their own position. Though, I don't think it'll be scattered amongst the region, it'll be too much for the game in a sense.

I'm hoping It'll be more like Emerald's frontier. Sinnoh's was... meh.

Or, since Kanto is involved, GF could take a page out of the Anime's book and place the BF all over Kanto. ;_; I really hope that doesn't happen.
