4th Gen Battle Frontier Thread - Thoughts & Opinions

I doubt it. I don't keep up with the anime at all, but Ash has already went through Johto, and if the HG / SS frontier is the same as the Platinum one, there wouldn't be any reason.

No, ONEPIECEPWNS has a point. If the Battle Frontier were to remain the same in HeartGold and SoulSilver as it is in Platinum, then there is a possibility for Satoshi [Ash] and Co. in the anime to make a return in Johto. Looking back, in the Battle Frontier Season of the Anime, Satoshi did make another return to Kanto, so there isn't any reason to doubt Satoshi may go back to Johto as well, but we'll see what happens there.

As for the Battle Frontier in the games itself, I don't hate the idea of it being there, but of course many would have liked it to be a bit different from the one in Platinum.

Something I think people aren't picking up on is the battle facility AI difficulty, assumptions, and turn-process. (even luck, folks, can't leave that alone) Many reviews from the Platinum was that Factory was far too hard, Hall was designed improperly past 170, Arcade too easy (if you master the roulette and have solid knowledge, it honestly is, I cruised past 160+ and have yet to lose), etc. I'm honestly expecting difficulty settings to make a turn. (hopefully for the better, in my case, harder, but I can dream :P) There were some AI assumption on switches (from what I noticed) in the Arcade, and they might revamp such. Platinum's AI reviews were mixed, but from what I heard, it gained edge from D/P. Perhaps they implemented an AI similar to Pt's with some minor changes. The Recorder has nothing to do with AI, from my understanding, so they can certainly make changes on how trainers operate in certain tiers in the battle facilities. Even some small changes can make massive changes in how we approach a tier of battlers or deal with a facility.

Food for thought, I suppose. Even if it seems to be exact, under the lines, it could be vastly different.

I understand what you say about the difficulty. I had the same circumstances as you (especially with Arcade), and I'm hoping that the Battle Frontier will be completley revamped in HG/SS. Not just the brains and the buildings, but everything. I want it to have a brand new feel (by brand new I also mean harder) and, hopefully, have Red implemented into the Battle Frontier storyline somehow. I also hope that the BP prices will be lowered as I hate having to utilize the battle tower almost 30 times to get a simple Focus Sash.

Personally, all I care about is that there IS a battle frontier. As a fanatic, I couldn't care less about it being the same or whatever. My Umbreon, Suicune, and Salamence will still have a blast conquering the facilities again. It's my main passion in these games, and similarities won't diminish it's lovely effects on me.

I guess you don't really get bored easily as me. I love the Battle Frontier too, it's just that it can get really repetitive and sameish at times which causes me to lose intrest. Hopefully, if new buildings get implemented in HG/SS then you'll find that I would be enjoying the frontier again since I see it as a new challenge for me to overcome.

That and I can never get more than a 37 win streak on Battle Tower. ><

Believe it or not, you just made my point for me. That's why the facilities (same or not) are never boring to me. (it still surprises me that it's boring for people, what if people who were terrible had a streak in the hundreds? Pressure cancels out any and all boredom, believe me, lol)

Yeah but you're more of a competitive gamer (or so I should think) so it makes sense that you're always pushing yourself to get higher streaks and so on - which also explains the reason you probably don't get bored as quickly, or at all.

For a casual gamer like me, I would get bored even if I'm getting 100+ streak at a time. I guess it's partly my nature and the fact that I'm not as competitive or as serious as you so I won't get pressure either.

Ah, valid point. XD I'm just frontier biased, lol.

Still though, I severely doubt it being exactly like Platinum. Because so much behind-the-lines stuff is probably going to be edited and mixed up.

That's what I'm hoping, praying, for. It is very likely to happen though so hopefully, no worries.

Only time will tell, I suppose. Another frontier to dissect down to the very fibers of its foundation. >:)

Battle Frontier the same again?

Yeah the Battle Frontier is back but just completely the same like just copied and pasted from Platnium, I would rather they got Emeralds Battle Frontier in HG/SS, so what are your guys thoughts?

yea i was like wtf even the same people are standing in the same place how can johto have the same frontier from platinum like they have twins pretty cheap Nintendo

To be fair , the reason the Frontier is the same is due to compatibility with Platinum, so at least Gamefreak has an excuse.

Tch. Epic fail. I understand it had to be the same in order to connect with Platinum, but still.

Question: How are the Frontier Brains in Sinnoh and Johto at the same time? 'Cause HG/SS is supposedly happening at the same time as D/P/Pt. O_O;

Me neither. The people are the same and the Frontier Brains are the same. How is that possible? o_o

How is it epic fail?

We didn't even expect the battle tower to be in this game and we ended up getting the frontier. So it's fail because I guess they decided to spend more time on the rest of the game than making up a few new characters?

If they made new characters I'm sure everyone would complain "THESE GUYS LOOK LIKE SINNOH FAGS, GAMEFREAK FAILS AT JOHTO".

I think its a good Idea. U still have more to do for replayability.
