what is the strangest battle with a non player character you ever experienced?

for me, i was in the battle dome tourney in emerald. i was in the semi-finals, and i was up against a black belt. his hitmonlee had just knocked out my best pokemon (my lvl. 65 swampert starter) and i thinks, i screwed. feeling hopeless, i send out my next strongest pokemon, a lvl 44 salebye. since hitmonlee is scaled to my highest poke, it lvl 65. i brace myself, but when hitmonlee starts to attack, nothing connects. it hits me that hitmonlee only knows normal/fighting type moves, and i just sent out a ghost type, so nothing can hit. i spam shadow ball until hitmonlee faints, iand i ended up winning the tourny!

My coolest was just recently actually on my pokemon X! All of my pokemon fainted except my level 21-30 pokemon and thought I was totally screwed because they were 45-55 and there was no way in hell I would have won without extreme luck! Of course he had two pokemon left so I knew I was gonna lose if a miracle didn't happen! Let me tell you, a miracle sure happened that day!

Send out my last pokemon which was Mime Jr and I get to move first thanks to quick claw! I decided to open with a thunder wave and prayed for the best! He didnt get to move that turn! Then I used a swagger, it missed! Ugh but wait, he didnt get to move AGAIN! Used another swagger and it hit, he passed the paralysis but the confusion stopped him and he took nice damage from the attack boost! I used swagger again to ensure he would kill himself fast and of course, between paralysis and confuse he did just that! My mime jr messed a pokemon up that was 20+ levels higher than himself! But wait we have another pokemon still and this one gave me a bad feeling! Luckily my quick claw allowed me to move first AGAIN and opened with a thunder wave and he was paralyzed! But ofcourse he passed the paralysis and hit me hard! I was getting ready to soft reset and try to fight again but my mime jr survived with 2-3 HP! I thought no way, I still have a chance! Opened with a swagger and confused him, he didnt get to move due to paralyze! I hit him with another swagger to ensure he would due serious damage to himself! Ofcourse paralyze stopped him until confusion wore off so I tried another swagger and missed and paralyze didnt stop him this time! I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best! He opened with a rock tomb, I knew I was screwed there was no way I would luck out when he used rock tomb which is 95% accurate, but I lucked out and he missed! Wow! I used another swagger and he hurt himself in confusion, I followed up with another swagger and he hurt himself again! I tried swagger again but I missed and then confusion wore off and he used another rock tomb, I knew there was no way in hell he would miss again, BUT HE DID!!! Used another swagger and he was confused with a nice attack stat, he hurt himself in confusion and he fainted! Mime Jr is the winner! I never thought he would be a saviour but that day he was more legendary then Arceus himself! Arceus was smiling upon Mime Jr and I that day!

This will always be a great moment in my pokemon history that I will never forget and I no longer despise Mime Jr, he was boss for me that day and will always remember that pokemon! I wish I was that lucky when it came to real life and the lottery :)

Thanks for reading and I apologize for the book I just wrote above! I hope you all enjoy that story and decide to share some of your more memorable moments!

I'm not really sure what goes on in the head of the AI in the Battle Maison, but I had a rather odd encounter in the Super Triple Battles where a Dusknoir had the strategy of Will-o-Wisping my entire team...only to then decide that the Leafeon it was allies with would also benefit from being burned.

It only used Will-o-Wisp despite having multiple opportunities to attack. I'm not even sure if it knew any other moves!

Also, physical Gengar in the Maison can go straight to hell. No Gengar's Ice Punch is strong enough to take down a Physically Defensive Dragonite in two hits.

Not so much an oddity, but I'll never forget my first showdown with Cynthia when Platinum first came out. I'd hacked a Mew into the game around the 3rd gym or so (less because of its power and more because Mew is my favorite Gen I Pokemon). When I got to Cynthia, I was somewhat underleveled and had done it without any revives. Garchomp and Togekiss did a number on me, but I managed to get her down to her Roserade. Mew was my last man and came in hard with a Psychic, but it didn't quite KO. Roserade got a critical Sludge Bomb to get me into the red, and as luck would have it, it poisoned Mew and took it out with one hit on Roserade left to go.
