So, if you store all your pokemon in Battle Revolution and then restart your DS game, do you lose the pokemon in Battle Revolution, and can you later import them back to your DS game?

No. You can only use one Pokemon game with a single file of Pokemon Battle Revolution. If you start over in your main Pokemon games, you'll have to make a new file in Pokemon Battle Revolution

so is there any way to store your pokemon from D/P & HG/SS so that you can restart your DS game without being unable to move them back to the DS after restarting? or is the only possible method though trading

You could clone your Pokémon using the GTS Method or via the the means of an AR or simply trade them to another Game on a Different Ds. You could then restart the game, and trade them back. Other then that, I don't think there's another way besides Trading them to a different game.

Battle Revolution just copies pokemon, doesn't actually "store" them. So no, you can't pull em out.

The closest thing to what your looking for is PokeRanch, but even that ties itself to speific carts.. meaning, if you erase your game where all the Pokes came from, you will not be able to pull them out, and they'll be stuck there forever.. some hacking might let you do it though.. I'm not sure if changing your ID to the old one would let you do that or not.

Best way: Get another game and port them, nuke the old and start over.

I would recommend using HyperGTS to backup you Pokémon. The HyperGTS tricks the game into thinking it is connecting GTS, but it is actually connected to your computer. The main downside to this method is that it does not circumvent the ban on Pokémon holding the Premier or Classic ribbon.
