Okay, I've got a general idea of what I'm going to do here in the section overall, but I thought - hey, if I'm going to be making guidelines and whatnot, why not ask the members themselves? How democratic ~! ^-^

Well, if you have any suggestions [rules/guidelines, general suggestions, et cetera] for the Battle Stadium, post them here.

This thread will remain open until the end of November ~

I guess I'll just list a few observations...

Over the months, gyms and leagues have started to look more and more like those dreaded clans that have long since been banned. I mean, they're essentially the same thing under a different name, because it's mostly just idle conversing and not a whole lot of battling. Yeah, the discussion may be about battling, but it's not the same thing, and it seems like a whole lot of useless posting, especially when it's just members arguing about battles or rules. Next thing you know, they'll start challenging each other and *poof*, we'll basically have clans again. =(

I'd like to see some heavier moderation here, kinda like what's going on in S&M. Not moderator-approved threads, but just a little more interest in the types of threads that get approved. I mean, gyms and clans are great and all, but only if they're actually run by decent members who put some effort into the thread and don't just say "Oh hey here's a gym, there's 8 leaders and an Elite 4!" I realize that it's hard to come up with good, unique ideas, but I count 5-6 gyms on the first page alone that seem like carbon-copies of each other.

And I know I speak for a lot of people when I say that it seems like the Battle Stadium doesn't get a whole lot of attention from the staff. Of course, I'm not blindly attacking the staff for not doing their job or whatever, but I know it would mean a lot to the members here if they saw a little more involvement and control from the moderating team. I'm sure it would go a long way here, especially in terms of the quality of gyms and tournaments.

But nonetheless, I'm looking forward to whatever changes you'll be making =]

    ^---whole heartedly agree with that.

It'd probably be best to have a white-wash of the gyms/leagues. They literally are ALL the same. The only league or gym or whatever you want to call it that has '8 gyms, 4 E4 members' should be PC's official league (which is also something that could be established.) Other gyms and leagues should be have way more thought put into them...or at least, y'know, not suck. XD

IMO there should be tourny's instead of leagues because people like playing in tourney's more and when tourney's usually get made people forget about the leagues

Okay, well most of the stuff you guys posted about is stuff I had kind of planned out so far. Yay ^o^

Keep with the suggestions, please. Do you want a blacklist, or what? :D?

Honestly, rather than just getting rid of all of them, I personally believe there should be a community vote on which groups stay, and which go. I personally think the league I'm in currently doesn't spam a lot and we get battles done, aside from XEL of course (Only over the rule thing though). So basically, possibly a moderator decide if they see enough active members in the group or some way of rooting out the leagues that aren't so good. :/

I do, however, completely agree with the need for more moderating in the section. Not new moderators by any means, but it would just be nice if the current ones cleaned out all the spammish posts in some of the larger threads, such as people posting battle challenges in the PC Tourney thread.

Blacklists have always irked me. I can identify with most newcomers; over the last decade of activity online, I have not forgotten what it is like to have so recently laid eyes on a keyboard for the first time. The very concept of a "permanent record" seems unnecessarily cruel and unforgiving. People change, after all. When the time is taken to explain a visitor's mistake, they will remedy their ways more often than not.

As an example, a few weeks ago I spoke with a certain Denali about his league. Though it was approved, it also fell into the "carbon copy" category you gentlemen have defined above. He closed it down, apologized, and promised to return with a unique idea or to participate in the leagues already present.

I realize that the nature of the internet has jaded most old farts like myself and instilled this notion that attempting to correct the mistakes of those we perceive as foolish or inexperienced will only be met with argument followed by drama. So forever socially barring them seems the best course of action.

In some situations, yes. But in most, I would prefer to believe that everyone is capable of being as strong and important a member of any community as those who want to be rid of them.

^---I don't think Luke meant creating a blacklist of members, but even if, there are a handful of people here that just won't quit with their awfulness, haha. Though now that I say that, right now it looks like we've just got a large number of new, eager battlers, rather than the cocky dolts that were here before the summer.

    XD So yeah, good suggestions.

Ah, perhaps. When presented with a vague statement, I work upon the closest assumption. A blacklist of threads comes across to me as utterly ridiculous; any thread found worthy of such a list by moderators would just as well receive a lock.

Perhaps moderators should be harsher when approving the opening of leagues

    Definatley
    Also
Mabey Seperate threads for OU/UU battles or somthing but I dont think there is enough interest
    Also (lol)
A PC kinda Leage (sorry i cant spell for Peanuts) would be good but it should Be
    8 Gyms,E-4,and Fronteir Brains :)
also The underdog leage is kinda creative it stands out atleast

I like the idea of a full PC league-

This idea is kinda out there, but I wish forums like PC could each raise a team from within their forums and battle against other forums (Pojo, Smogon, Serebii, etc.)
Though coordinating like that would likely be impossible..

    My random two cents...

SCV - that Would be AWSOME lol
Betch we could do it with some cooperation with smogon and seribii ect
But it could only be small teams like 6 people

Two things. Hacks are already allowed, just as long as both battlers agree.
Also there should be a limit on how many active leagues there are at a time.

seperate threads for uu and ou battles is a good idea, except for the people that want to do mix ou/uu battles, uber battles, and no restrictions battles.

The Leagues are okay, granted mainly H&S, Platinum, and Battle Frontier get attention, but they seem to work. As far as the carbon copy thing goes, I really don't know what to say. There really isn't much else can be done that wouldn't bring a rise of clans in league clothing.
Clans, they're a tricky topic. Personally, I think there should be clans, but due to what I've heard once happened they'll need a rule set and tough moderation but I think it could work.
And there really should be an official PC Tourney.

And there really should be an official PC Tourney.
Then what do you call this? XD

Anyway, one thing I'd suggest, and I'm probably going to get beaten for this, is to make the character limit and four word rule law here, just as it is everywhere else on PC. It would be the first step to making posts less spammy, in my opinion.

Also, as previously stated, instead of having clans going all out against each other here, we could have one big clan to go against other forums with. Though it sounds good in theory, I dunno if it could actually work out. Though it would be fun pwning Serebii :P.

So rather, in keeping something completely within PC, how about an official League? Some friends and I had a similar idea for a now defunct forum which never really got off its feet, and I do recall there was also something here, though it suffered from the same fate. In starting it, there could be a "Gym Leader Tournament," in which the eight finalists would each get their gyms. And following that, anyone who defeats all eight of them(or the seven others, in the leaders' case) would become an Elite Four member, with the latest person to do this becoming the "Battle Stadium Champion." Emblems would also be cool prizes here, among other things. ^^

Can anyone tell I've had this on my mind for a bit? XD

    Yahooo! Pwn other forums!
    (i agree with that)

Ubers are very powerful. Why restrict them?

Because many battlers believe Ubers=uber noob trainer. A solution could be pitting unEVd Ubers against EVd non-Ubers.

Ubers ruin the battle. remember the days when Deoxys was just OU. everyone had one and it was too hard to get it down. the battles werent funny

Like UT Ubers against EVd Non-Ubers? That might work... would need testing though...
