Battle Stadium Suggestion Thread

Evd ubers are better. I know because i used ubers a lot. Example:evd attack form deoxys (i really did this) will have 500-502 attack stat.
non evd has an attack range of 412-420.
See the difference?

That's the point. It's like trying to bring down a giant with an army of 5 armed with daggers. And that giant has other giants ready to back him up. By allowing unrestricted battles, the battles become heavily tilted towards one person or another, ESPECIALLY if your opponent has no ubers to his name. Seriously, if you want to know what we're trying to say, get someone to battle you. You using no ubers while they're using a team of 6 ubers.

I have already suggested to update the defination of hacked pokemon.
But saying here again...

if i battled someone with ubers, they would use them too.

^---whole heartedly agree with that.

It'd probably be best to have a white-wash of the gyms/leagues. They literally are ALL the same. The only league or gym or whatever you want to call it that has '8 gyms, 4 E4 members' should be PC's official league (which is also something that could be established.) Other gyms and leagues should be have way more thought put into them...or at least, y'know, not suck. XD

Whereas I agree with the overall thing that there are too many leagues, the notion that they are all the exact same is a little over the top. H&S and Platinum started off as the two generic leagues, there is the Battle Frontier, the non-type based league and the UnderDog UU League. Everything beyond that has been a carbon copy alright, and the simple solution is that the mods don't accept pretty much every league that asks for permission.

And I think a general PC League is a bad idea because it will just end up with a few of the most known super battlers from the PC Wi-Fi Tourney as leaders and will just be everyone else scrambling to keep up with superior competition. Also, just about every other forum has a single official league and that's it, the fact that things are different here is better and that is what draws a lot of the members.

I personally agree with most of Zam's suggestions, but the idea of gym leaders challenging the league they are in is silly. They can't have it all.

The problem with Ooka's idea of letting people vote for what leagues stay also won't work, as just about anyone can vote, but really if it is a league matter only the battle forum regulars, i.e. the people it will actually effect, should vote.

Err...that's in-tier battling. Why are you suggesting to bring down the tiers if you're gonna assume people are gonna battle ubers with ubers? Anyhow, I'm gonna poof before I get yelled at for going off-topic. >_>

The Ryouga social group is currently working on expanding some new tournaments. Don't worry guys, that part is covered ;D

As for the League idea, I'm behind Zam on that. But Greene, I do not believe the 'superbattlers' of PC would be the ones running it. I mean, I definitely wouldn't want to be a gym leader, but I'd like to challenge the league for sure.

I agree with updating the definitions of hacked Pokémon. It would also be nice if everyone could understand that Pokésav'ing things is basically cheating and should fall under that category (as well as be included in the hacked definition.)

@richdevildog, the teaching of how to competitively battle program is already underway. I do believe the S&M forums have it set up, so perhaps we could include a link or announcement that appears here in the Stadium to get the newer battlers over there to join the program (after it expands of course, I think there's only like 8 students in the test-trial now or something.)

Overall, regulation of the leagues would be a good idea. People need to be more creative than '8 gyms, 4Elites, and frontier brains'. There's plenty of ways to set up unique league formats, you just have to think on them for awhile.

Lol the Ryouaga social group sounds like PC's version of the Kliq.

I think that if a league also has members that continually are not available and challengers cannot progress because of that- that league should be closed.

I agree with just about everything you said VA, however, when it comes to the Pokesaving thing, I don't really think that's true. :/

I mean, yes, "Technically" it's cheating, however, some people just don't have the time to sit and catch / breed for hours on end, then EV train. I mean, I know it's possible, but some people just don't have the time, and Pokesav allows them to get the Pokemon they want and still have a chance to show how good they are without all the breeding. I obviously disagree with 31 IVs in everything, I honestly think it's just stupid, but if people only put 31 in two, and possibly three stats (Which is achievable by breeding within only a week or so of breeding, when done right), I honestly think it's fine and I still get to see how good their actually thinking is. If they have to breed Pokemon and don't have time to reach a decent Pokemon (Meaning lacking 31 in any stat, or even anything above 27), I won't get to experience their top battling capacity, so I don't feel as accomplished. I honestly think a rule against Pokesav (Again, with just 31 in a couple stats), is just a limiting rule, and shouldn't be used at all.

But that's just my opinion. I don't want to start an argument, just putting out their what my opinion is on the matter.

he is right, because some people dont know how to rng. In battles, people with rng abused pokemon always get an advantage.

Obviously you hven't battled much.

I know it's past november and whatever...but I need to say something.

The Battle Stadium is a complete mess. Everywhere I look, there's countless leagues just springing up with the slightest little tweak to rules to make it seem almost original. I'm amazed that some of the ones here have any activity at all considering how identical they are to one another. Leagues need to be wiped and I honestly think that this forum needs a "reset" or something of the like. Established leagues can come back I guess, but I feel that there should be a total of 3 non-PC governed leagues total.

A PC league itself would be a genius idea and be extremely fun to develop and make with the collaboration of the entire community. It should be the only 8 gyms/4 Elites and then Champion gym, perhaps with a bonus Battle Frontier if that's good enough, but aside from that, any newer league needs to be different for once. It's difficult to come up with original ideas, I know, but it's not impossible.

Starting the forum from a clean slate would be beautiful. This place wouldn't look like a cluttered piece of *insert bad word here* and it would probably be more active if it were a bit more organized.

My thoughts on what the sticky section should look like:

- PC Wifi Tournament
- PC Official League
- Rules and Regulations (This Thread and This Thread honestly do not need their own threads and should be put into one).
- Quick Battle Thread
- IV Check Thread

As for the rest of the threads, as I stated, there shouldn't be nearly as many leagues as there are right now. I personally would close all of them, and ask for the members who think they're leagues are worthy to start up again to PM the mods and ask for a reopening. Then the community could vote on whether or not it truly needs to be reopened. After that, there really should only be about...3...or so leagues still open. :/

I just want to actually get back into Wifi battling, but I can't because this place is such a mess.

Well wiping them all just to restart some seems pointless, but your overall idea is spot on in my opinion and a few of us have been saying for a long time now that the mods are approving too many leagues. I see about 9 leagues up right now, and about 7 tournament, and honestly I feel only 4 of the leagues and 3 of the tournaments are any good. Some of the more recent leagues (not naming any names) have been trying to set up for months and still have only maybe two or three challengers. A public vote really shouldn't be necessary when it is obvious what leagues are thriving and what ones aren't.

Also if the new PC league is really an official one, shouldn't it be stickied to separate it from the rest.

Well here's where I'm coming from with the whole "Leagues Being Wiped" thing.

Leagues are hardly leagues. They're more like little chat areas for a group of friends, and if you look at the battle to post ratio...it's probably like 1 battle for every 15 or so posts. It's a problem, and if I recall correctly, I think that's why clans were banned. :/

They need to be wiped and reset because they're clutter with spam talking about nothing, and it should only be for battling...this is the battle stadium, correct? So by restarting each league worthy to be reset, it will allow for a fresh, footprint-less area for members to begin anew. I feel that if existing leagues stay open, it'll just continue to be filled with comments on stuff that doesn't necessarily pertain to the league itself.

Now I expect an argument about stuff along the lines of "Well our posts are all about battling, so what's the big deal?" Well, my arguments stands here:

If the thread is for the league....it should talk about the league and only the league. If you wish to discuss metagame and the like, ect., take it to S&M where it's meant to be. That is why we have a separate forum for it...

So basically I'm on the same page as Aura. They look too much like clans and it needs to be stopped.

Well I believe there is a button on the Mod CP to just delete all posts on a page, which could be a better solution.
