What is the best generation of Pokemon?

Generation, or region? If I pick gen 2, then I get the two best regions:P Hoenn was alright. Sinnoh... Ugh.
 
I'll have to go with the second generation.

Gold, Silver, and Crystal are one of the few sequels that I've seen that didn't do anything stupid and just added on. Plus, they had Kanto, which was just the perfect ending to the great game.

I also loved that with Crystal I didn't have to play as a male trainer anymore!
 
Second Generation (GSC) is my favourite generation as it holds the best memories for me. Plus I find it struck the right balance between genuine innovation with out being pointless (Such as half of the poketech apps). Plus it was also the perfect number of pokemon without doubling up and it wasn't covered in water like gen 3!

Very much looking towards the remakes
 
My favorite generations were III and IV. They just felt nicer with the story and basically everything.
