Hey all! I'm new to Omega Ruby. I raced through Pokemon Red, caught the three legendary birds (first time I've had my all-time fav Pokemon, Zapdos, since I played Silver as a kid) and Mewtwo so that I could put some Gen I-raised Pokemon in the Bank when it's optimised for Sun & Moon.

Today I bought Omega Ruby. Then I bought the walkthrough/strategy guide, but the only thing that annoyed me was that they don't have details on the individual Pokemon. I had no idea a Pokedex book existed! So I just bought that online. Omega Ruby and Y are the same gen right? So the OR Pokedex book will serve to be pretty helpful for Y as well (which I've already played through)?

Anyway, just wanted to say I'm excited and expect to hear more from me! The opening titles are extremely impressive, the best of any Pokemon game I've played. Really, really great start.

What are your favourite things about Omega Ruby and/or Alpha Sapphire?

OR/AS and X/Y are both 6th Gen, so the guide should work for both games. Some Pokemon did get updated level-up movesets in OR/AS but overall, you can look up the differences on sites like Bulbapedia and Serebii.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy the game!

They are great, aren't they? :) They have the best graphics of all the games too, imo, though obviously that's bound to change with the release of Sun & Moon. But, great games, I hope you enjoy them!

Also, the Pokemon and movesets are mostly the same between OR/AS and X/Y, but if you plan to use the walkthrough to help guide you through the game (maps, finding hidden items/Pokemon etc.), it won't help at all since both sets of games are set in separate regions and have their own separate regional Pokedexes.

The Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Pokedex is accurate for the way that Pokemon will learn moves in those games. However, it does also point out the differences from the way they would learn moves in X & Y: moves that they learn at a different level in ORAS than in XY are in pink, and moves that they learn in ORAS but not in XY are in blue.
