Best set to purchase?? Help Please

What is the best set (post Neo Sets) to buy booster packs? A good one would include a large set for lots of variety in cards, having a very valuble rare card in the set, and overall bang for your buck.

Well... any of the sets that are still tourney legal, actually (I think this is Diamond and Pearl on up). Unless you're a collector.

Not a clue, honestly... though I'd still say one of they tourney legal ones, especially Platinum or Platinum Rising Rivals.

If you're looking for cards with high monetary resale value, then you have to go for the ex fireRed/leafGreen boosters, simply because Lugia ex and charizard ex are selling on ebay for 100+ dollars.

I can't agree more, this is the set I was going to recommend. Not only does it include some of the more valuable holographics, but cards from the set are so scarce because not many packs sold during that time period and they got yanked off the market quickly. This obviously makes each card from the set more valuable than most, even commons and uncommons, but then there are also the Ex's from that series that sell for very high prices. The only unfortunate thing is that booster boxes sell for at least twice as much as normal boxes go for, so if you can find cheaper boxes then don't hesitate to get them.
