best shoot em up of all time???

    best shooting game of all time???

    hi just want to know what you think the best shoot em up games are?
    i think bioshock
    redident evil
    CoD
    fear
    house of the dead
    time crisis
    things like that are good
    what other games do you remember that are awesome like that for any console even arcade games
    i think RE 3,4 and chronicles are good
    fear files
    HOTD 4
    are my favourites

    According to many PC users, Team Fortress 2 is widely considered the best shooter game today, and Bioshock for single-player.

    Having never played either, I don't know if they truly are or not, but it doesn't matter, because they're wrong: the best shoot 'em up game is Timesplitters 2 for Gamecube, PS2, and X-box. Rather like Goldeneye (the previous holder of "Best Shoot-em-up game"), but way more modes to play. It's awesome.
     
    My favorite shooter games are Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4.

    I liked Aliens I think it was from the ghetto classic games. (The one when you move side to side behind baracades and shoot the moving alien thing).
     
    yh bioshock is gud ive completed CoD4 on all modes but the hardest lol the ending on it makes me upset cus all ur mates get shot in the head just u and captain price survive i think but its my favourite game of all time

    Perhaps you should get your definition of shmup games correct before you create a thread about them?
    The only games you've listed that are defined as shmups (or more specifically, rail shooters) is the House of the Dead and Time Crisis series.

    The rest of the games listed either fall under the category of a first-person shooter or a third-person shooter.
     
    Uprising, forever my favourite. It's both FPS and RTS, no game in existence quite like it either. :o

    Actually, the CD case of Uprising describes it as a "shoot'em up" and a "strategy sim". As Uprising is an old game (old for a fully 3D game at least), I'd hazard a guess that the terms have just been replaced over the years...

    I have to say Timesplitters series, there is just something about gunning down the gingerbread man with a shotgun as a ninja monkey I just find apealing
     
    Ya know looking back you have to go with the Doom, Wolfenstein series.

    And finally for the Console, Goldeneye. I don't think anyone can underestimate this games influence.
     
    Hmmm.... for pc probaly Half-life 1,2,e.1,e.2, and the nintendo games probaly all metroid games
