[Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13

Kris's mistake...

I entered Meteor Falls with Eruption and Larvitar following me. I started listening to the nice sound of the water, until I noticed two figures further into the cave. I studied them for a second, their clothing was the trademark of Team Magma.

"Nice, I walk into a cave and find these boneheads." I mumbled to myself as I recalled my pokemon. "Before just attacking I guess I should find out why they're here." I walked over to the cave wall and began scaling it. At about ten feet in air there was a narrow walkway. I started slowly walking closer to the grunts, both were oblivious to my presence. I got about close enough to hear the grunts and noticed to more people behind a boulder. I reflexively moved back out of there sight, wondering if they saw me. They weren't in the regular Team Magma attire, but you couldn't be too careful.

Probably just trainers who stumbled upon the grunts, like me. I thought to myself. I tried to move a little but only kicked a rock, sending it down the path of the grunts. I jumped from my ten foot high walkway onto a boulder, then to the ground all before they saw me. Or at least I hoped it was before they saw me. I looked around the boulder. The grunts hadn't really noticed the rock, luckily. The other two boys I saw a minute ago were pretty close to me, but I had no idea if they had noticed me.

"What to do...?" I started to think of a way around the grunts. I didn't see a way to sneak by them unnoticed and the only thing that popped into my mind was to attack. That wouldn't be the best course of action since I didn't know if there were more. I could maybe cause a distraction by letting Eruption out. They might think he was just a pokemon who wandered in here, then he would either sneak by them if they would allow it or attack them.

But what happens if he attacks and more grunts are attracted? There wasn't much else I could do. I thought I should maybe see what the other two trainers were thinking, but I was not a people person. No time for that now, it's the only thing I can do. I tried to sneak around the boulder, but at that moment a grunt turned and saw me. I drew back hoping he didn't, but that didn't last long when I heard him call out.

"Who's back there?!" I heard the grunt start walking and I knew there was only two things to do, one of them being running-which I was not willing to do. So that only left attack. I grabbed all four of my pokeballs and prepared for the worst...

(OOC: Yeah, Kris just blew your cover. Also, whom wants to team with me?)

(Bringing a joint post from Grifspark and Romdinner. More credit goes to him for this post, since he did most of it. But hey, I'm an important part of this post too!)

It was about noon when David had reached the cave; the giant opening was breath-taking. David stared at it for a couple of minutes after coming to his senses. He turned left and sat on a rock by the left of the cave. After a couple of minutes of staring at the sky he started searching his backpack for something. He kept taking thing out of it with a disappointed look.

"Please don't tell me I lost them." Were his words as he took the last thing out of his backpack (a pair of socks) "Well that's great; I can't even keep track of things that are in my backpack."

As he got used with the idea about his lost items he started putting back the mess of thing near him. He put his all of his belongings back leaving his black hoodie out because he wanted to take it on as he was going to enter the cave. He put his backpack on and he put his hands in his pockets and to his surprise he felt two small round things in one of them.

"So there you were…..now I remember I put you here so you won't get squashed among my stuff." David said as he pulled out two berries.
Those were the berries he was given by Spoink. An Oran berry and a Lum berry, But he wanted the Oran berry most as he wanted to see how it looked like.

"Now that I have you I can start searching for more. Wingull come out."

"Wingullllllll"

"Look at this berry; we have to search for them so we can use them when you and the others are low on health."

And with that said the two of them started searching around the area for the desired berries.

Meanwhile……………………………………….

Andy knew that last match was a lot closer than he had made out. Facing Suffix against a Fighting-type was a risky, especially a trained one. A flick from Andy's wrist caused the Pokéball he held to retrieve the Fire-type to its portable home. Andy scooped up Suffix once again, and let him rest back on Andy's shoulder. He was rather proud of the Slacker-Pokémon, being so enthusiastic about the fight, which was rare. Molotov put up a good fight too, and surely learnt a thing or two from the fight.

Andy led himself against a huge oak tree, and slumped down to the floor. He had been walking for a while, and needed a rest himself. "Mhm... fancy a rest?" he asked Suffix, who obviously nodded in response.

"Wing~ull!" squawked a nearby Pokémon, which was followed by a small white bird swoop down.

A confused frown appeared on Andy's face. What was a Wingull doing this far inland? The only times you'd ever see a Wingull away from water was when it was owned by a trainer, and none other than Andy were to be seen nearby. Unless of course it was looking for something? Andy pushed himself up from his resting point, and edged closer to the Wingull, careful not to make a sound. The Water/Flying-type pecked the ground with its beak slightly, and then turned to the sky.

"Wing?" it twirped, as it spun to Andy's position.

It stared at Andy with confusion and a little shock for a moment. Andy shuffled forward once more, but it was a mistake. "Wingull! Wingull!" it screeched, as it flung out its wings, and took to the skies. Andy tried to keep an eye on it, but the bright sun made him shield his view.

Andy shrugged, and then patted Suffix's head, and then turned back along the path. "Mmkay, let's go."

David was in a tree looking for both the berries and his apparently lost Wingull. The sun was very strong and made David's sight very limited. As he wanted to get down he heard a cry for far away. It was Wingull, the little bird happily landed on David's head pecking him gently. David was glad as well that it came back and got down.

"Try not to do that again, you had me worried."

"Wing…Wingull." the Pokémon said in a soft voice.

Then Wingull got up and pointed David into a direction. Even though he got lost and wandered a bit far, on her way back the Pokémon saw a bush filled with blue berries. They rushed to the specific location and quickly started picking berries. After about five minutes of hand and beak picking David had a backpack pocket filled with dozens of berries.

"I think this will be more than enough even if we have to face ten trainers like Flannery." He said laughing between his words. "Wingull come back into your Pokéball!"

And after the Pokémon went into its Pokéball David went back at the entrance of the cave and went in, not noticing that he left the zipper from his berry pocket a bit opened, leaving the berries to fall one by one. Upon entering the cave David's sight was caught by the most significant and most beautiful thing in the cave "the waterfalls" which were the reason why this cave got the name of 'Meteor Falls'. The falls were falling into a small indoor lake. David went and touched the surface of the water. It was crystal clear. Light was still coming from the entrance of the cave so the first few rooms were medium lighted so the vision was still good enough for anyone who entered.

After gazing at the waterfalls he started walking along a narrow path which led to a corridor surrounded by stalagmites and stalactites. The pillars were everywhere coming from the ceiling or the ground; it was a view that would impress even the most unmoving person. As he was going he saw a glimpse of a shadow ahead of him, David started running but he kept a distance until he could take a good look at the person. The person was running as well, and from the looks of it he was also a trainer. Knowing that he run to him and put his hand on his back.

"Excuse me, I'm David."

"Oh you startled me….. The name's Sam."

"You trying to get out of the cave too?"

"No I'm searching for somebody."

"Did somebody get lost here?" David said with a worried look.

"It would be good if they get lost." were Sam's word as he put his fist onto the wall.

"They?"

"Yes … they….Team Magma ….. A nasty group of Pokémon thieves which stop at nothing when it comes to getting what they want."

"MAGMA……" he said looking like something in him had been ripped apart.

In a matter of seconds David had a flash back from the time team magma busted into his home and put his and his sister's life in danger. David could not forgive them for what they have done so he knew that they must be put to a stop

"They stole my Pokémon back in Kanto and now I'm trying to get them back."

"I had been threatened by team magma's evil doing as well , and I swore to stop them if I have the occasion."

"Welcome onboard then, I'll tell you that they are lurking around here somewhere so be careful , they seem to be searching for something maybe a rare Pokémon…."

"Ok thanks for the advice."

"I'll take off now but again be careful and don't forget that we share the same thoughts about team magma and eventually we will get them."

"OK…" David could just say as Sam quickly disappeared into a part of the path.

David when left and kept walking, knowing now that team magma was in there as well. His goal was simple: find team magma and stop them. He went along the path, this time looking more caution for any shady characters. As he exited the patch he stumbled upon a steep edge. Next to him was a even narrower path than the one he had just came. You had to lean to the wall to get down. Before he wanted to go down he looked down wanting to see the distance. It was about a meter and a half to the ground. David was still looking down when somebody got to the end of the path as well.

"You kid there… what are you doing?" were the words that came from a tall and spooky man.

He was mainly wearing red and black, it was obvious buy the way he looked and the big flashy magma sing on his chest that he was a team magma member. David got a hold of himself and was reaching for his Pokéball.

"Stop right there….Poochyena, Zubat, keep an eye on him. Make one rash move and I'll tell them to attack you."

David stopped his movement as the two Pokémon came closer to him. Since David was seemingly unarmed, the grunt grabbed him in an attempt to subdue him. David kept trying to get out of the grunt's tight grip and just as we was about to get freed a strange looking Pokémon came rushing towards David and the grunt.

"Suffix, stop!"

The call was far too late to stop the short stopped disaster. Shoveling berries into his mouth, Suffix charged forward. One of the only things which could get Suffix energetic was either combat, or food. The later was much more effective. The Slacker-Pokémon, completely contradictive to its personality, waddled forward, tracing the path of berries dotting the cave.

"SLAK~OTH!" it yelled, as it slammed into something.

The 'something' gave way, and fell. Unfortunately, that something, unbeknownst to Andy and Suffix, was David.

"Ouch….I feel like I've been hit by a Ryhorn." David muttered as he opened his eyes.

He turned his head right and could see the grunt who got hold of himself and got up. They were both hit by something and fell down the edge landing on the ground. David was still lying down; He could see the whole cavern. It was spacious, numerous stalagtites coming down from the ceiling. There were some stalagmites as well but fewer that the ones coming from above.

Andy flew through the cave, leaping over the occasional boulder which blocked the way. Suffix had moved around them, and this would get to him quicker. Grabbing the Slacker-Pokémon by under the arms, he picked Suffix up, leaving him to flail his arms down in order to grab some of the fallen berries.

"What the hell got you so riled up kid?" Andy asked his Slakoth, gazing down to one last berry with intent.

It kept squirming, and Andy was two seconds from returning him to his Pokémon, when one thing caught his attention. The faint fluttering of familiar wings, and the gentle, although vicious growling of something nearby. Andy froze in his position by the edge of the hill, but then turned his head around slowly. Standing on the cave floor, bearing its teeth, was a Poochyena, which looked as if it were about to tear the head off a Machamp. Hovering above it was the well known purple flying Pokémon known as a Zubat.

"Yena!"..."Zu~bat!"

Andy turned the rest of his body to the Pokémon, and shuffled backwards slightly. "N-nice... Poochyen-" he was cut short as a small step back brought around a seemingly common fait in these caves. "-Aaah!" he yelled, as a third step back was miss-placed, as his balance was thrown upside down as the trainer fell down the side of the cliff.
It was only a meter and a half, but it hurt like hell. Andy had most of Suffix's weight slammed onto him, meaning he felt in an even worse state. "Ah, Arceus-dammit..."

Clambering up to his feet, Andy let his eyes adjust to the light. The two Pokémon remained on the cliff edge, reluctant to come down, although waiting for some kind of order. Wincing in pain slightly, he began to move back in the direction of the entrance to the cave. He had already fallen over, and getting where he could see things clearly maybe he could get some kind of perspective. Andy shuddered as he felt something moderately soft underfoot.

"Hey, kid." Yelled the voice, "Get the hell off me!"

Andy quickly got up when he realized that the soft surface wasn't maybe some moss but an actual human being. He took a few steps away from the man trying to come up with some kind of apology. David saw the whole scene and started laughing from the moment he saw the trainer on the grunt. It was a moment than had to be immortalized in a picture. He put his hand in front of his mouth trying to stop his laughter but it was impossible.

"Sorry…..it was an accident……" Andy said in a low tone.

"You brat!!!!" the grunt yelled as he got up trying to get the dirt off of him.

"Don't worry even a bit, he deserved that and even more" David quickly assured Andy. "He is a part of Team Magma, that was just a tiny bit of what he should get"

Andy grimaced at the realization he had just stood on someone, but didn't feel nearly as guilty once the message had been given that he was a Magma grunt. In fact, it all sounded rather comical.

"Whoa, Team Magma? Don't they, you know, steal Pokémon?"

The second voice spoke up once more. "They don't only steal them, but use them to do their filthy work. They should be put in jail." He said, and then clambered up.

The voice was a boy, and looked roughly the same age as Andy himself. Rushing over to David, Andy could only assume that he wasn't in team Magma if he spoke to them like that, and that hopefully the voice would be friendly. "Hey, erm... I'm Andy."

"David." He replied, before glancing at Andy.

"What are Team Magma doing here!?" Andy yelled, before being shushed by David.

David shook his head. "Not really, but I guess it's what they usually do. Searching for Pokémon to catch or steal, and stuff to steal or sell..."
Andy nodded. He couldn't really have thought they'd being doing anything else here, especially in MeteorFalls, which was famous for Moon and Sun stones, which were rare everywhere else in the world. The Grunt brushed off the final piece of dirt from his uniform, and motioned up to the cliff edge.

"Hey, get down here!" the Grunt yelled to his Pokémon, as the Zubat flew down, and the Poochyena leapt down, landing safely on the ground. He turned to Andy and David, with a sure sign of anger in his eyes. "Hey, you two. You're gonna pay for that!" The two trainers looked themselves in the eye and with a nod of the head they knew what they had to do.

"Suffix, I guess you're up!" ….. "Come out Numel and take them down!" The two trainers shouted in sink.

"You too, get in there and Show them that this is no child's play"

"Andy ready for this?" David said simply ignoring the threats made by the grunt.

"Hell yeah, just make sure you can keep up."

"That won't be a problem my friend." He replied with a confident look in his eyes.

"Enough with the chit-chat, Poochyena start off with a Tackle, you Zubat use Wing Attack"

"Numel use Ember to block Zubat in its tracks." David said as he looked to Andy letting him know that he should go after Poochyena. Numel rushed and with a blow of its mouth dozens of fire sparks went hitting Zubat knocking it down.

Andy placed down Suffix without a second glance. "Suffix, follow up with Scratch!" Andy yelled, as he pointed at the Poochyena. A second had passed and the Slacker-Pokémon had not moved. Andy sighed heavily. "Oh come on! You were ridiculously hyper a minute ago..."

"What was that about catching up earlier?" David asked being a bit surprised.

"Oh ha, ha." Andy muttered, as he frowned slightly.

"Don't take it like that, I was just joking, rest assure that the two of us will beat this scum in no time. And don't worry about Suffix ….help is on the way" David said with a big mischievous grin on his face.

Andy didn't bother replying, he needed to focus on the fight. Sort of, he now needed to wait it out, until Suffix bothered to try and fight. "Suffix, Yawn!"

A barrage of pink, although fairly clear bubbles were fired toward both Zubat and Poochyena blocking a bit of their sight of Numel and Suffix. David took advantage of the situation and lunched a direct attack on the two Pokémon.

"Andy get Suffix ready to be picked up… Numel, Tackle those two." David whispered to Andy then shouting the command.

"Suffix, just stand up!" Andy yelled. Suffix didn't seem to think of this as taking too much energy, and pushed himself up, although still using his arms to hold himself up.

Numel jumped over the bubbles and went first for Zubat knocking it down into Poochyena, Numel keeping itself stuck like glue to Zubat and pushing as hard as it could. The two Pokémon went into one of the stalagmites behind the grunt. Pieces of the stalagmite flew in the air, one of them hitting the grunt in the head.

"You'll regret that" the grunt said, anger vibrating through his words.

"Numel now come back and lift Suffix up."

David saw that due to the Pokémon being lazy he would have to help him get around so he thought he could ride on Numel's back. Numel got near Suffix and somehow the Pokémon agreed and without any doubts it climbed upon Numel. You could see a glimpse of enthusiasm in Suffix's eyes but still its laziness could be felt from miles away.

"Hmm..." Andy muttered to himself, wondering quite what David was thinking.

"Zubat use Supersonic, Poochyena use Sand Attack"

"Andy, thinking of what I'm thinking?"

"Thinking what you're thinking? Wh-" and then it hit him. And it could work.

"OK Numel use Growl to stop the sound waves" ……… "Suffix, use Yawn again!"

The Supersonic hit against the Growl and negated each other while the flow of bubbles got hit by the sand keeping it out of reach from Numel and Suffix.

"You're starting to get on my nerves, enough playing nice Zubat use the stalagmites to conceal yourself and then hit that Slakoth with a Wing Attack............Poochyena you keep hold of Numel with a Bite."

The two Pokémon sprung into action and as they were told , they surely did. Numel and Suffix didn't see what was coming and in a few seconds both of them were hit. Suffix was thrown off of Numel hitting the ground while Numel was suffering as her skin was pierced by Poochyena's teeth.

"Numel, knock him off."

"Suffix, get back up and try scratch!"

The Pokémon focused……well at least Numel did…..as it started jumping around until it smashed Poochyena into the wall. Zubat was flying above Suffix as it was about to attack him.

"Numel use Ember to distract Zubat"

But Zubat evaded the attack and by being ordered it launched an attack and dived upon Suffix. It bit him and swept Suffix off of his feet carrying it around. Suffix didn't really like the situation in which it was put, but who would have? The fans from the bat kept hurting Suffix minute by minute.

"Hold on Suffix!" Andy yelled, as he turned to David. "Mind givin' me some backup?"

"I'm on it."

"That won't happen anytime soon….Poochyena stop Numel…Bite again." the grunt laughed out.

"Numel jump!!!!" David said as the Pokémon came near Numel. The Pokémon dashed beneath Numel leaving it to smash into a stalagmite. "I like your style……..Numel, Ember and keep it coming."

A fierce stream of Ember was launched after Zubat, but Numel had to be very careful not to hit Suffix as well. It kept using it but the bat evaded every time. It was flying under a big stalactite.

Andy, unable to provide any real support in his position, began to observe the battle field. Grinning, he glanced at David. "Hmm... I'm sure a Zubat wouldn't be too happy about hitting a stalactite... Hint, hint."

"We're on the same track" David said with a big smile. "Numel use Ember beneath Zubat and go slowly up with the attack."

"You want to get beaten or are you just plain stupid…. Zubat just simply go up and avoid that."

The bat went up and without any awareness of the stalactite above it, it knocked into it loosing grip of Suffix and letting him fall, then falling down as well. Andy flinched slightly as the Slacker-Pokémon fell to the ground with a thud. Suffix didn't look too beat up, but it must have hurt a lot.

"Erm... Suffix?" Andy asked, a little curious of his Pokémon's condition. "SLAKO~TH..." it yawned, as Suffix picked himself up, ready to fight. Andy nodded to David. "Alright, now this gets interesting... Suffix, use Scratch!"

"It's about time... Numel, follow up with Ember!"

Suffix, using his arms to propel him forward, leapt at the Poochyena, and pulled one arm back for a Scratch attack. Bringing his right hand down, he slashed the Dark-type in the side, causing it to howl in pain, and jumped backwards to a safe distance. Its retreat was of no use as it was struck by a scattering of sparks and cinders from Numel, who was slowly closing in on the Poochyena.

Andy chuckled. "Yeah! Suffix, try Scratch again." He ordered, as the Slacker Pokémon nodded slightly.

"Numel now heat up that Zubat" David yelled. If he could keep Zubat under control, Andy's Slakoth could probably deal with the grunts Poochyena. Lifting his other arm, Suffix prepared for a second strike, while Numel ceased fire, and turned to the fallen Zubat. "Nu?" it groaned in confusion, staring at the position where the Poison type had once lain. Andy and David both turned to the sound, to see no Zubat. Suffix turned too, although it was a perfect sneak attack.

"Zubat use Wing attack on the Slakoth, Poochyena, bite it!" yelled the Magma grunt.

Suffix felt something sharp clamp his leg, causing him to turn back to the Poochyena, who had dug its sharp teeth into the Slakoth's leg. "Slak!" he yelled in pain, as a second attack struck his back. The bat-Pokémon slammed its wings into the Slacker-Pokémon, causing him to fall to the floor, overwhelmed.

Andy was ready for an order, but the words were caught in his throat. David on the other hand, was as ready as ever.

"Numel, charge 'em both with Tackle!"

Numel rose itself onto her back legs as a sign of agreement, before charging forward using all of her strength. Although being careful not to trample Suffix, she slammed into both of the foes Pokémon, launching them backwards with full force. Poochyena went flying smashing into the wall. Worse, Zubat came after Poochyena like its shadow hurting them both on the impact, then sliding down on the ground.

"Get up you useless Pokémon!!" the grunt shouted, his words fiercely going down his Pokémon's ears. Zubat started to flap its wing and after some unsuccessful flying attempts it finally got up but it was barely keeping its body lifted in the air. The grunt saw how Zubat was but didn't care less, he turned over to Poochyena ho wasn't moving a bit. "I knew you were useless, but not at this low level" he said as he called Poochyena back into its Pokéball. "Zubat try doing something worthwhile this time….Wing Attack on Slakoth"

The bat started going towards Slakoth gaining speed as it went on. Despite being so tired its speed was increased more by its fear of what would happened if it would lose the battle and what would its punishment would be. With that in mind in went with full force into Slakoth.

"Suffix, try and dodge it!" Andy ordered, although it was half-hearted and exhausted. Suffix dodged Zubat's attack but Zubat kept going after him until with a lucky break it hit him sending him rolling down into a nearby rock. "C'mon Suffix, try and get up!" Andy watched as his Pokémon struggled to get up but as it was just about to stand on his feet the Pokémon fell down. "Suffix... return." Andy muttered, as he flicked his wrist holding the Pokéball to return his battler. Andy nodded to David. "Ok David, show 'em who's boss."

"Numel you heard that, jump and hit Zubat with a Tackle"

"It just you and me boy now, you're weak friend just lost his precious Pokémon."

"You should keep your eyes on your Pokémon and not on my friend, I have faith in him and we got here based on our great teamwork, this is Zubat's last stand and the last attack is from both of us."

Andy was still a little caught on the Grunt's words. "Weak? Excuse me!? Ooh, you'll pay for that you son of a-"

This time Numel sprung with all of its force into the air going straight at Zubat with a fierce Tackle. Zubat went flying propelled by Numel's Tackle into the ceiling, then falling down on the grunt and staying there without any movement.

"You meddling little brats" were the grunts words as he went for another tow Pokéballs.

"Looks like it's not the end, get ready on your side!" David said turning towards Andy.

Andy chuckled, before turning to the Grunt. "I'll show you weak. Let's finish this David!"

OOC: JP from me and Zeph. Nakuzami, it's over to you ;)

"Oh yea," Kliff said, "Your Pokémon, of course..." He unclipped the five Pokéballs he had containing the critters, holding them all in his hands,

"After you!" Warren grinned, then held out his own five Pokéballs.

"Alright, let's go guys!" The five Pokémon burst out as Warren leapt around the corner and glared at the five shocked Magma grunts.

"Now which one of you wimps is first?"

"Hasty," Kliff said to himself as he held his Pokéballs over the rock and released his own party, before coming out into plain sight too,

"What the-?!" One of the grunts yelled in shock, "Aron, defend our position!"

"Zubat!"

"Slugma!"

"Poochyena!"

"Numel!"

With a series of shouts and lights, five opposing Pokémon stood before the grunts, growling, hissing and warning them to get lost in whatever way they could. Warren grinned.

"Cannonball, take care of them." With a roar, the whale released a powerful Water Gun, spraying all of the Grunts and opposing Pokémon, sending most of them crashing to the ground.

"Your move, Kliff!"

"Not so fast!" One of the grunts shouted,

"Too late! Gella, use Poison Powder!" Kliff ordered. The Tangela extended a number of vines and sprayed the poisonous purple spores at the group of Magma grunts and their Pokémon. Each of them coughed and spluttered madly, grunts itching away as the powder made contact with their skin. The Pokémon too wore pained expressions,

"Zubat, use Supersonic!" One of them cried.

"Silver, Howl!" The Zubat screeched and supersonic waves flew from its mouth, but Silver howled and the waves flickered and twisted as the sound was distorted, before smashing uselessly into the walls.

"Now, Useless, Copycat!" The small bonsai stepped forwards and replicated Zubat's attack, sending a pulse of sonic waves down the tunnel, washing over the Grunts and their Pokémon.

"Rock Throw Slugma!" One of the grunts yelled, before the molten slug mustered the concentration to spit out large blobs of magma that cooled rapidly into rocks,

"Tok, use Mirror Move!" Kliff shouted. The Togepi happily obliged, jumping into the path of the flying chunks of rock and forming a large rectangular shield. The rocks bounced off of the counter move, striking the confused and poisoned Pokémon.

"Warren, I have an idea! I need you to floor that Zubat!" Warren grinned.

"Sure thing!" Violet, Confusion!" The Ralts leapt forwards, swinging her hand dramatically and sending the Zubat smacking into one of the walls with a burst of psychic energy. It bounced off, then was immediately picked off by an accurate Water Gun from Cannonball. It flopped to the ground, out cold. Warren grinned, then looked over at Kliff.

"Ok, now what?!"

Kliff quickly retrieved four of his Pokémon, leaving Baker out. He turned to Warren, grinning,

"I'd recall your Pokémon for a moment if I were you!" Warren nodded, then quickly called back all five of his team, before turning back to Kliff.

"This plan had better be something good!"

Kliff simply turned to face the grunts,

"Use Magnitude!" Baker bellowed, slamming his feet into the ground, causing the floor to shake violently. This was a strong one, as the collapsing Pokémon being thrown from rock to rock showed. The Magma grunts too struggled to stay on their feet, still itching and coughing madly from poison. The Magnitude subsided, leaving five Pokémon lying in heaps along with their trainers.

"What should we do with this lot?" Kliff asked Warren, who narrowed his eyes.

"We tie them up and leave them here. We need to make sure they won't alert the others in the cave." Hearing a noise, he spun around to see a short boy, a year or two younger than him, with dirty blond hair sticking out from under a black beanie. Warren growled.

"And just who the hell are you?"

Kliff sighed, "I'll sort this lot out while you politely exchange greetings shall I?"

Continuing down the rocky path, Sam stopped for a rest. He'd forgotten the toll battling could take on him. He found his thoughts wondering what awaited him when he got to Meteor Falls. He'd heard on a news report that Aqua and Magma had been sighted in the area, but would they be here? They'd been seen just about everywhere. But…he wanted to believe he'd see them again. One of them would have to have his team, wouldn't they? That's what the news report about that guy Robert had said.

"But…what if they really have brainwashed them? Would they fight me? Could I beat them?" He asked himself. He knew the answer immediately. He would have to fight them within all reason, and he couldn't beat down any of them with his current team. His old team was just too strong…he was lucky if he was half as strong as any of them the way he was.

Fenrir was tough, brave, but he didn't use his head much. Umbre had both those things and was maybe the strongest Pokémon he'd ever met. Spore was smart and skilled, but afraid of its own shadow. How could something like that even begin to compare to someone like Pika? Skorp was great and had many versatile moves, but Nine was better at fighting and could fight much better close and long range. Mime Jr. could fly and packed a bit more of a punch than Pidg could, but Pidg was faster and had a good number of skills Mime Jr. would never have. Feebas may be great, but Cloy was better and had amazing move variety, along with a fabulous defense strategy. Sableye, who Sam had recently sent to Professor Maple, wouldn't stand even half a chance against Steelix. How could he beat them down? Even 6 on 1 wouldn't be enough to take any of them. And what about Warren's team, hadn't they been taken too? All of Warren's Pokémon had been easily a good match against any of his own, so he didn't stand too much of a chance against any of them.

"So how the hell can I deal with any of them? And what's to say they haven't taken other Pokémon, Pokémon that are just as strong as mine? How do I fight something I don't know anything about? I mean I have my pokedex, but what good will that do me if I haven't got anything to fight them? Before…the old guys could handle anything, they were all incredibly tough, but they also had the variety to team up and take down anything. How can I beat a team like that?!" he screamed. It echoed a couple times, but no reply. Right…he was still alone, and he would be for a while, too. He had to figure out how to fight off his team using what he had now. He pulled out his pokedex; he had to know just what his team was, would be, and what they were capable of. He wanted to know everything about them, he had to.

"Let's see what we can find about Poochyena…" The pokedex pulled up a picture that looked remarkably similar to Fenrir upon Sam's command. Sam looked through its pokedex page and found several things, such as its moves remained fairly basic and none of them were particularly powerful. Wait…an evolution? Sam clicked that option and found himself looking at a larger dog, darker in color.

"Mightyena, the Bite Pokémon. It is very loyal and will not disobey the commands of a skilled trainer." Sam looked over its data. It seemed to be much more powerful and probably a good bit quicker than Fenrir. Its pure nerve added to the skills of a Mightyena could prove to be a powerful combination. Maybe Fenrir could one day compare to Umbre if Sam could get it to evolve. It didn't look like it would be too long until Fenrir evolved either; he was already starting to exhibit the loyalty. Next up was Spore.

"Show me Shroomish." He commanded the device, which followed his command to the letter. A mushroom like Pokémon that looked exactly like Spore appeared on screen. It didn't look like the shyness was typical, nor the excitability. Well, maybe it would make an odd change if it evolved. Sure enough, there was an evolution in Shroomish's family. Breloom, it was called…

"Breloom, the Mushroom Pokémon. It releases spores at will and has all the skill of a pro boxer." A half fighting type? Spore couldn't keep its afraid attitude that way…it would have to grow up and learn to take a fight! Wait…fighting was a bit of a problem for his old team. Steelix would take some major hits, though not terribly bad thanks to its massive defense. Cloy was in a double lock, as grass and fighting both hurt it. Even Umbre took a pretty bad hit from fighting attacks! Okay…maybe these guys could do something. Next up, Skorp.

"Skorupi, please." Skorupi appeared on screen, showing the same as a typical Skorupi and with the same basic ideas. Yeah, Skorp was pretty typical as compared to the normal one, why was it the only normal member of his team other than Mime Jr.? Oh, right, because he didn't catch it in the wild, that girl just wanted something pink if he recalled correctly…or maybe it was cute…? He didn't particularly care; it had netted him an awesome Skorupi. Did this thing evolve?

"Drapion, the Ogre Scorp Pokémon. It is massively powerful and can rotate its head a full 180 degrees, eliminating blind spots." It was incredible…Skorp looked small and weak, but Drapion looked massive and powerful. Another entry said its claws could wreck cars. Something like that…its move variety was unnaturally high. It had moves that covered Steelix, Cloy, Pidg, essentially the entire old team if it was trained right. Okay…maybe this team could handle something, the old team if it was trained enough. On to Mime Jr., then.

He went through its data. He wouldn't bother with checking its evolution, he was certain it evolved into Mr. Mime. Mr. Mime was irritating in his mind, he didn't like its size and it was just a bit awkward. He liked Mime Jr. more; it could pull off moves that a Mr. Mime couldn't and he didn't need anything too much larger, he was sure of it. What about Feebas?

Feebas was an interesting one. It was considered incredibly rare and didn't learn too many moves. While it was generally called the Hoenn Magikarp, it actually had the ability to use TMs and a number of egg moves were available to it. It also had a powerful evolution, though. It seemed familiar; he'd seen it with a Gyarados once, if he remembered right.

"Milotic, the Tender Pokémon. It is said to be the most beautiful Pokémon in the world and can calm any hostility instantly."

"Tauros crap. Andy seemed pretty pissed when his girlfriend had hers out, and Warren was the same way." Still, it seemed pretty powerful and looked like it could use a number of powerful attacks. He'd seen it in the Grand Festival once, when his parents had taken him as a young child. It was amazing; it could use Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, and a number of other moves. One day he'd have to obtain one…oh wait, he had a Feebas! Well then, he'd train it hard to get one! Feebas looked to still be a ways off evolution, though…

"Well then, now that I have all that, I suppose it's time to get going. That was certainly…inspiring." He stood up and started walking towards the further ends of the route, Meteor Falls waited on the other side. He'd just practice hard until he got there; maybe he'd see an evolution yet.

He walked slowly down the path, pondering what he would do, when suddenly flames shot at him.

"Whoa, the hell?!" He yelled, jumping back. To his right, what looked like a pure pool of magma with eyes laid there, glaring at him.

"Slug." The creature growled. Sam pulled out his pokedex; this thing was coming in handy.

"Slugma, the Magma Pokémon. Slugma is made of pure magma and is capable of burning almost anything with its flames. Sam looked at it confused, it didn't appear to be quick or otherwise, just a smidge annoying. Alas, he would handle this the same way he did any other Pokémon.

"Let's get in there, Fenrir!" He tossed the grey dog's pokeball. It appeared in a flash, roaring at the magma as it did.

"Slugma!" the creature cried, firing off more flames. Sam recognized this as Ember. Okay, time to handle this.

"Fenrir, dodge it!" Fenrir jumped out of the way, narrowly dodging the flames. The Slugma was quick, though. As Fenrir jumped he sent off another jet of flames, nearly hitting Fenrir, though the dog hit the ground and rolled. Fenrir narrowly avoided the third barrage of Ember fired at him as he got up. Sam scowled, didn't this thing know when to quit?

"Alright then! Jump at it, Fenrir! No mercy!" Fenrir leapt forward at the dog. Sam half expected another barrage of ember. What he got instead was quite different. The slug let off a huge cloud of purple smoke. "Smog?!" Sam cried. Fenrir landed on the slug, hitting it hard. Much to Sam's dismay, Fenrir jumped off, howling in pain. The thing didn't just look like magma, it seemed. It actually was magma. That wasn't good; he was going to have trouble beating it down. Okay, how could he hit it? Teeth couldn't feel, only gums, so he could do that. And if Fenrir's tackles were quick enough, he might be able to get off without feeling too much pain, but it wasn't good. Fenrir was already coughing, suggesting that Smog had poisoned it. He'd have to be fast. Poison could take out a Pokémon in about 10 attacks. He'd have to finish this fight off before then.

"Ma, ma, ma!" Flames shot forward from Slugma's mouth yet again. Sam gritted his teeth; it wouldn't be easy to dodge this, especially as every move he made would inevitably make Fenrir spread the poison to a new part of his body and deal more damage, and when it got through the whole body, the grey dog would be knocked out and Sam would lose to the wild Pokémon, and that was unacceptable. He just had to take it down with the least possible moves. Anything wrong and Fenrir might get burned or run around like an idiot and spread the poison even faster. He couldn't waste any moves, he'd have to be perfect, flawless, no, absolutely flawless.

"Fenrir, go! Use Bite, but don't do it too hard, toss it if you can but DO NOT burn yourself!" Fenrir ran forward as Slugma fired off another barrage of flames. Fenrir dodged, and then bit down. Not hard enough to burn, but still hard enough to hurt. Fenrir spun and tossed the large magma slug backwards, though it appeared to burn its teeth, as it scowled in pain. Another cough occurred, though a bit heavier this time. Sam was worried; he couldn't keep up this rouse forever, he would have to go after it at some point.

"Slugma!" The slug lifted up a number of rocks, shocking Sam. This thing could use Rock Throw? This was confirmed when it tossed the rocks at Fenrir. The small dog rolled under them, and Sam could tell it was feeling the poison.

"Er…alright then, Fenrir! Use Howl!" Fenrir looked up to the sky and howled. The Slugma appeared a smidge afraid of the sound, Sam noticed. That might serve useful later on if he needed to freak it out. Slugma's cringing left him a wonderful opportunity to try something. He could avoid more attacks if it couldn't see. "Now, Sand Attack!" Fenrir spun without too much motion, kicking up sand. It blanketed the Slugma, but then something incredible happened; it became glass. It wasn't so hot that it would melt, but just hot enough to make the kicked up sand melt into glass. It formed all over the Slugma, trapping it. Finally, Sam had tied it down. Now he could hit it, and hard.

"Yena?" Fenrir growled. Sam understood. It was willing to hit it as hard as it needed to at Sam's command.

"Yeah, let's go! Use Tackle!" Fenrir charged forward at top speed to hit the now struggling Slugma. He dashed hard with one final step, crashing hard into the glass covered opponent. Slugma cried out in pain; the heat obviously intensified when it felt pain, as the glass started to melt on impact, but not before it dealt some extra damage in addition to Fenrir's powerful tackle. It screeched for a good couple minutes before turning to Fenrir again. It used Ember once more, and the dog had no room to dodge this time. Fenrir was hit head on, and Sam could tell that it was about to go down.

"Come on, Fenrir, hit it once more, and use your legs to knock it into the rock wall!" Fenrir made one final move, sending the slug flying into the wall. Sam could tell that it was burnt, but it seemed to be so discombobulated from the poison that it couldn't feel it anymore. Slugma hit the wall and couldn't move; Sam had beaten it. Fenrir suddenly collapsed. Sam ran forward, fumbling in his backpack for a Full Restore.

"Come on, buddy! Don't die on me now…" he whispered, spraying Fenrir with it repeatedly. Much to his relief, Fenrir stood slowly, shaking its head.

"Yena…" it growled tiredly. Sam could tell it was exhausted, and no Full Restore could fix that. He smiled warmly.

"You fought hard, buddy. You deserve a nice, long rest." He pulled out its pokeball and returned it. Sam noticed that the Slugma was already fleeing, back towards the volcano. It could probably heal itself in the magma, judging by how it looked. Well, he'd better keep moving if he didn't want to be out here too late.

Sam walked into a massive cave system slowly. This had to be Meteor Falls...but was that fighting he heard? He charged forward, searching for what was going on.

OOC: SOOOORRRYYYY I thought that there was time for me to put something other than the actual current plot :(

(OOC: Pleaze don't kill me! XD And he's not short -.- but the post is, sorry...)

Before I could do anything, the other two boys I had seen a minute ago jumped out and battled the grunts and won. When they finished, they started talking for a second.

"What should we do with this lot?" One of them asked the other.

"We tie them up and leave them here. We need to make sure they won't alert the others in the cave." I shuffled a bit and one of them turned when they heard me. "And just who the hell are you?"

The other one sighed, "I'll sort this lot out while you politely exchange greetings shall I?"

"Polite my a-" I began to mutter under my breath before Larvitar appeared and elbowed me. "My name's Kris." I hissed back at him. "And if you'd excuse me i'd like to check out the rest of Meteor Falls." I started to walk before Larvitar jumped in front of me. "What?" I was a little confused why he was doing this.

"Vi~tar!" He moaned as his reply.

I sighed and turned to the rude one. "And what is your plan on taking care of Team Magma?" I eyed the other one that was taking care of the grunts. "I sure hope it's a good one or else you're gonna have yourselves a problem." I thought about what the grunts had said. By the sound of it there were a lot more of Team Magma here.

(OOC: btw, never done a joint post before =/)

Warren glared at Kris.

"I hate to break it to you but Team Magma will be swarming all over this place. Now you can either try and get through on your own and end up getting robbed or killed, or you can come with us and maybe we can chase them off together. No offense, but you don't exactly look tough enough to take on all of them by yourself." He turned back around to look at the grunts.

"And if you've got some rope or something, that'd be real helpful too."

OOC: you're doin' fine :D

The boy kept glaring at me before he finally spoke again, "I hate to break it to you but Team Magma will be swarming all over this place. Now you can either try and get through on your own and end up getting robbed or killed, or you can come with us and maybe we can chase them off together. No offense, but you don't exactly look tough enough to take on all of them by yourself."

"Offense still taken." I mumbled. "Fine, i'll go with you. There doesn't seem to be much choice." I thought about picking up Larvitar but then I remembered how heavy he was, so I left him alone. "And, no. I don't exactly carry rope wherever I go." I said in answer to his last question.

"By the way, what's your name? Mine's Kris."

"It's Warren, and this is Kliff." He turned around to look at the Magma grunts lying on the floor. Although still knocked out, there were definately signs of life.

"They're probably going to come round soon and when they do, they'll raise the alarm. So we either tie them up or leg it through the caves." Warren looked over at Kris, then over at Kliff.

"I really hope one of you has a good idea, because right now I got nothing."

I hesitated for a moment to think of something. "I could have my Wurmple tie them up with a string shot for now, until we get something better to use." I said to the boy named Warren. Wurmy must have heard me because she popped out of her pokeball.

"Wurm~ple!" She squeaked happily and inched on top of the grunts, ready to use string shot at my command.

"Whaddya say?" I asked Warren.

Warren grinned.

"Yeah, that should do it. We need to hurry through this place, so it should hold them for as long as we need." He turned around and quickly rummaged through the pockets of the grunts, pulling out a couple of handheld radios. Warren tossed them to the ground, then smashed them under his shoe.

"That should keep them out of contact with the others for a few more minutes." He looked up the tunnel.

"We've wasted enough time here. Let's get moving, you two."

"Okay, Wurmy." The Wurmple jumped happily for a second before wrapping up the grunts in silk. Warren smashed the grunts hanheld radios and said we needed to move forward. I began to walk and Wurmy climbed onto my shoulder.

(OOC: Way too short, sorry...not much to say)

[Sorry about the delay, I was busy with work l3]

Kliff listened intentley to Warren and the other boy's conversation as he hauled the grunts into some form of huddle aswell as retrieving the pokemon back into their pokeballs.

Just as Kliff stood back to think about how to subdue the grunts, a String Shot efficiently did the job, wrapping the grunts together tight. Kliff followed the line until he saw a Wurmple standing next to te other trainer (apparently called Kris).

"We've wasted enough time here. Let's get moving, you two."

"Right behind you, oh fearless leader." Kliff replied as he began walking.

Warren ignored Kliff. This was not the time to start an argument. Just around the corner, the trainers came upon what appeared to be amakeshift elevator. Metal cable ran up and dwon, disappearing into complete darkness. Resting on a flimsy-looking platform in front of them was a small metal box, barely large enough to accomodate the three of them. Warren swallowed nervously as he stepped forwards into the lift. From the inside it seemed even smaller. Sounding a lot more confident than he felt, he looked back at the other two.

"Are you coming or not?"

Kliff looked uneasily at the rickety elevator, then looked to Kris,

"I dunno if three of us can go in, but what the hell."

He approached the suspended box and stepped inside. As he did so, it shook a little with the added weight, not really helping matters. He already felt packed in tight with Warren in the makeshift contraption, but Kris wasn't even in yet and they weren't moving.

"The quicker we get in the quicker we can get out," he said, "Knowing Team Magma this thing will probably break before it even takes us anywhere..."

I watched as Warren and Kliff got into a very small and dangerous looking elevator. "Uhm...I don't think we'll all fit..." I looked at the elevator again and took in what Kliff just said. "And I don't think it'll support us all...But, if it worked for Team Magma, it should work for us..." I hesitated for a moment, "...right?" I didn't really want to think about it too much, so I squeezed in next to Warren and Kliff. It was tight, and I don't like tight. "You sure this is the only way up?" I looked at Warren, hoping there was another way.

(OOC: If we all die, I blame Warren -.-)

"Forgetting me, Warren? I doubt that'll hold all of us. In fact, I can't see it holding more than three. Who goes first, then?" Sam asked, looking around. He was certain that they wouldn't all fit. What could they do? Splitting up sounded like a terrible idea, though. He knew what happened when that happened.

(I blamed Warren forever ago.)

Warren looked up at Sam in surprise.

"The hell did you come from?" Twisting his arm in a way best described as uncomfortable, and worst described as excruciating, Warren pressed the up button on the simple keypad. As the elevator engine roared into life and the grate across the entrance clanged shut, he looked back at Sam.

"The grunts said there are important people on the top floor. Important people might know important things. So just hold on, and call the lifit back down once we get up there."

Kliff almost never noticed Sam's sudden appearance, as he was preoccupied with shifting into a comfortable space while allowing Kris room to stand. When his eyes did fall upon Sam, he had mixed feelings.

First, and, most importantly, he was glad that they had another ally should things get tougher in the upper levels. Being as pissed at Magma as he was would undoubtedly mean sure pain for them.

On the other hand, there was no way in hell all four of them were fitting in that tiny shaft.

"So just hold on, and call the lifit back down once we get up there." Warren said, before the elevator's cage like doors rattled shut.

Kliff subtley gulped as the box vibrated. It slowly began to drag the three trainers up to the next floor. Between levels, it was dark, as in almost pitch black. Kliff thought he heard a quiet voice coming from above them, and then he froze in panic,

"This may be a bad time," he said, "but what if we get spotted as soon as we get up there?"

Warren paused.

"Hmmm. Good point. Probably should have thought of that before we got in the lift." He looked down at his five Pokéballs and his hand flickered from one to the other. Then, he looked up at Kliff, even this slight movement rocking the lift slightly.

"Your Tangela, does it know Sleep Powder? If it does, we could blow past the grunts and hurry towards the important people. The people who might actually know things."
