Question: Better advanced search or adding sub-forums?

I have a two part topic, but the reasons go together so I'll post them both here.

    First part: Better Advanced Search
I noticed that the advanced search only lets you look through either the topic title or all posts.

Is it possible for you to make the advanced search page give the option to look through just the first post in a topic? I'm talking about when you go to a specific forum and click on "search this forum" and then "advanced search".

It would be very useful on the Hacks Showcase and Progressing Hacks boards when users want to find hacks for specific games. I have seen a lot of hacks that don't say in the title want base they used but they usually say it somewhere in the first post.

Instead of having to open every topic that doesn't say what ROM base is used just to see if we may want to play it, users could select the "search within first post" option and it would filter out all the other posts that are simply mentioning those games.

Second Part: Adding Sub-Forums to Progressing Hacks and Hacks Showcase
Creating more sub-forums on those two boards may be a lot easier than trying to change the way the search works. The reason would be the same and it would also make those boards less cluttered.

My suggestion would be to first make generation sub-forums. One each for GB, GBC, GBA, and DS. Then within those would be sub-forums for specific Pokemon games. That way, when someone wants to play a hack based on a specific game, they can go to the correct board. There could also be a general board for the non-Pokemon hacks.

It may seem like a lot of work, but making a forum better organized is worth it and there are plenty of legitimate reasons people only want to play certain games. A few examples I can think of are these.

Players who only want a game with touch screen features would go to the DS board instead of having to sift through all the earlier games.
Players who want their pokemon to follow them would go to the Yellow, HeartGold or SoulSilver boards.
Players who don't like the graphic of later games but want to play as a female trainer would go to the Crystal board.

We shouldn't be forced to sift through a massive amount of posts simply because the topic creators don't always list the game's base in the thread title. It may seem like separating the games like this would cause people to miss out, but I think more people would end up trying out more games because it would be less frustrating trying to find one you like.

I think a better advanced search would be nice (not that I search for hacks, but it could use refinements, I suppose).
As for adding the sub-forums, GBA would overcrowd the other three, DS would have little to no activity, and GB and GBC wouldn't have much activity (aside from Brown/Prism).

Instead of doing subforums, use thread prefixes. :)

The Advanced Search - nice idea.

But separated sections in Hacks Showcase and Progressing Hacks?

No, just no. Take it from someone who's closely watched the mechanics of the ROM Hacking place for the whole time he's been here.

You'd literally have 10 hacks altogether in the DS and GB/C sections altogether.

In fact, if you split boards into individual sections for each Pokemon game, you'd have MORE clutter.
