News: Bikes and HMs gone in Sun and Moon

If Poke Ride at default speed is pretty much the same as the Bicycle at default speed, then I fail to see the issue here? You only need to hold down a button to go even faster if you really need it.
 
Awww but I liked the bike. :c Comes in handy for endless egg hatching! My thumb would get tired holding the B button forever.

I can get behind no more HMs though. Im sick of always having to have an HM slave just to be able to move around (especially in Victory Road!!!) or use up a valuable moveslot for something Im only going to use for 5 seconds.
 
I love the removal of HMs (and how it was handled), though I am bummed that the bike is gone. I enjoyed the faster movement without needing to use the roller skates in gen 6.
 
Having now played the demo and tried out the alternative to the bike, I have to say that I really wish biking were still an option (in addition to riding Pokemon). It seems slower to call up a Pokemon to ride than it does to quickly pick my bike option, and for breeding, that seems like it will be a pain.

I also do feel like there is value to being able to fly normally as well as a soaring-type flying option. While I ultimately went for soaring most of the time in ORAS (because I didn't like carrying a flier all the time, and because I enjoy taking in Hoenn's landscape as I fly over it), soaring is slower than the old flying menus when it comes to getting all the way across a region. There are times when I would like that speed.

I also wish you could ride your own Pokemon, rather than just calling up outside Pokemon to ride. Not sure if that will be a feature in the actual game or not (it's possible the demo just doesn't give you that option, as you don't really have any Pokemon), but I would love to surf, soar, and ride on any appropriate Pokemon that I might have.
 
I actually prefer the feel of Poké Ride compared to the Bike if I'm honest. From the demo, it seems as though the riding is about the same standard speed of the Bicycle and that's fine by me. The Roller Skates won't be missed and there isn't really a point of having the Bike included with Poké Ride being such a substantial feature for these games.

Finally, at long last, HM are gone! I was hoping they'd make something similar to the Eon Flute from ORAS, but they did something so much better!!!

& I don't care about the bike being gone, I have always felt that if Pokémon were real, I would have NEVER bothered with bikes! (& people have to admit that Tauros is MUCH more badass than a boring old bike!)

From the information we've gotten so far, I prefer the HMs and bike over pokerides honestly. You know they are only adding a handful of rideable pokemon to fulfill the role for each respective HM, Mega sharpedo being the surfer, charizard being the flyer, tauros being the rock smasher, mudsdale being the rock climber and stoutland being the strength pokemon (?) You can't even use them in battle or train them whatshowever. If you don't like any of these tough luck there's no other option cause they removed HMs and the bike.

There's no bond you can make with these pokemon they're just glorified bikes. Them not taking up a team slot is fine and all, but they could've made it so you transfer valid pokemon to those "HM roll fulfilling" slots rather than have it be seperate entities all together. But this is just assuming the final game is going to be like the demo. With how little people talk about pokerides all together I'd say it's safe to assume you're not going to be able to ride your favorite pokemon.

This is just a personal gripe but to me the heavy fanservice that comes with pokerides is just awful, if charizard is really the only pokemon you can soar with I'd much rather prefer an instant transport fly move from earlier generations. Im sick and tired of that pokemon having the forfront on everything, he's got 2 megas while 15 out of the 21 starters dont have any. Just look at the TCG charizard has like 12 EX cards while most pokemon who deserve at least one as well don't have any. Im actually suprised he hasn't gotten like 5 unique Z-moves already.

tl;dr I'd rather have them not release it at all and fletch it out better for the remake we'll most likely be getting rather than half assing it in this game and never updating it.
