5th Gen Black and White on the 3DS

How do you guys feel about it not being a 3DS exclusive title?
I am glad they didn't do that. At first I wondered why they didn't wait but I wouldn't want to wait for a new pokemon game and I don't have the money to buy a new system yet. And the next system I'm getting is gonna be the Wuu so Pokemon might have to be postponed for me (like always)

Do you think it would've been worth the wait?
No definitely not. it's already 3Dish just turn on the 3D and pretend it was exclusive :P

Are R/S remakes & third game at a disadvantage (in terms of developing graphics for a newer system) if GF intends to put them on the 3DS?

Not really they can make it work i'm sure. And I really highly doubt they'll change the third game to 3DS exclusive that doesn't make sense to me. Maybe they'll just leave it on DS or they might just make it for both. Who knows....

I wouldn't have liked it if Black and White were for the 3DS. They wouldn't have sold as well because at the time, the 3DS was $249.99 and, frankly, with the added price of a Pokémon game for $40, you would be paying almost $300 for a Pokémon game. Sure, there would be other great games on the 3DS, but you could have made that investment much later rather than now. It was really a smart choice to develop Black and White for the 3DS. Well, technically, they were DSi enhanced, which was also a good choice. A few extra features like they did for GBC would be great. Anyway, I do think the next generation will be for the 3DS. It's inevitable. The DS is outdated, and soon games will stop being released for it altogether. The hardware of the 3DS adds a lot of new opportunities for great features, so I wouldn't wait.

I'm pretty sure it would not make a difference, GF is the same way like Capcom with MH, they will try to stay with the same models and do a minimal upgrade with the sprites, so they can make the game faster, and make a bigger profit with the Pokemon games.

Do you think it would've been worth the wait?
Knowing GF, I'm pretty sure it would have been the same outcome, except with a widescreen support for the 3DS screen, and a minimal resolution upscale (Like we would have been able to see that it was meant to be a DS game).

I really don't see R/S remakes coming up, you see, you can still import your R/S pokemons all the way to Black and White, sure, you might need P/D/Pt/SS/HG to do so in the way but any Pokemon fan already has them. Now the third game might be like I said before, just taking advantage of the widescreen support and a minimal resolution boost. Nothing that would make GF look like they actually put some thought on the game, it might come with more additions that would make the game like it is not the same one in a different box art, but still, you know where I am going.

You can't really do a "minimal upgrade" on the sprites.

Either you go back to original reference art and redraw them all over again them or you don't anything at all, which is the problem.

I don't know, I'm just glad that it wasn't. I JUST bought a DS since the only games on it that I like are the Pokemon games, I'd HATE HATE HATE HATE it if it came out on 3DS and I hope all future games come out on a regular DS.

Same here, except for the DS part. They couldn't ONLY release DS games, because then, nobody will buy the 3DS.

It's probably because at the time, the 3DS was fairly new, meaning quite costly, and Game Freak knows the ways to make maximum profit from their Pokemon games. One way is to make sure more people can play the game with what they have, instead of having to plunk down the money for a game and a new handheld system. If the 3DS had been released a year before, or B/W released a year later, then chances are higher that the games would have been 3DS exclusive.

After all, the relationship between B/W and the old DS games is like that between those older DS games and the 3rd gen GBA era games... you can't directly trade between them; only one-way transfers of Pokemon. So B/W could have been 3DS releases if they (or the 3DS itself) came at different times.

Honestly be told; I really wish for the 3rd game to be 3DS-based game. Bought a 3DS and honestly isn't too happy with the fact I can't view my Pokemon the way I really want it to be, still.

In the beginning I was really angry about it not being on the 3DS. Mainly because I love routines. And every generation has been on a new console (excl g/s but that was upgraded when used on gbc). Then soon later I got over it quickly. I now realise that if it was on the 3DS we'd probably only be getting it like now in Australia and that would suck. Maybe, depends how they approached it. I don't know how I'd feel about the classic and traditional format of Pokemon to be even more changed though. I'm sure they'll make it great. They'll probably give us a Nintendo DS game that can be played like a 3DS game when it is put in one. Who knows, we might get another half/half like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red and Blue.
