Black and White Theme Decks

So, since I've been seeing these in stores for two weeks now, I figured I'd make a thread about them.

Has anyone else seen or bought these decks in stores besides me? What are your opinions of them? What about the rule changes that the inserts mention?

For those who don't know, here's a list of the deck names and the featured starter in them:

Green Tornado - Grass/Psychic; Features Serperior

Red Frenzy - Fire/Fighting; Features Emboar

Blue Assault - Water/Electric; Features Samurott

Personally, I think a couple of the names are meh, but I couldn't come up with better names, myself.

They look pretty well built despite the primary candidates for attackers lacking any actual oomph in Green Tornado and Blue Assault. Emboar is probably the best card in the decks, to be quite honest, aside from any Trainers.

I got the water and fire decks, mostly for the professor junipers. I'm really interested in the cinccino, do the wave for 100 with a full bench is pretty awesome. Communication reprint is really helpful too. Other than those, I can't see myself using too many of the other cards in this format.
The rules change makes me skeptical. Traditionally, going first in pokemon puts you in a pretty terrible position, if you open with only one pokemon (and even with two) you stand a good chance of getting donked which sucks. But, if you allow trainers and supporters on the first turn then donk decks are going to be pretty much unstoppable, especially sableye. I would have preferred some kind of compromise, maybe play a supporter first turn but no trainers. That would give a player the chance to retrieve more pokemon if they go first to avoid getting donked, and wouldn't give the donk deck going first a rediculous advantage. Other than that, the rare candy errata is pretty annoying if SP stays in format for another year, set-up decks don't need to be any slower than they already are. On the plus side, broken time space is getting printed as a league promo so if platinum stays in format so will that, which will help evolution decks a lot.

Well, hopefully the cards that will exploit these rules the most, which are sableye stormfront and uxie legends awakened, will get rotated this season so we won't have so many issues with the rules. The rare candy errata will actually help with donks, like dropping a machop and using candy right away to get machamp and donk with take out. Basically, if the rare candy rule doesn't come into format at the same time as SP it will be ok, because it does put evolution decks behind one turn.

Black and White - Theme decks

There isn't much discussion on Black and White around here, I find that rather odd to be honest.

So I guess I'll spur some up! What did you guys think of the theme decks?

I'm personally not a big fan of the theme decks but I picked one up and it wasn't too bad, pricey for what I got but still pretty awesome.

The broken glass/Prism shine doesn't look to nice in my opinion... but it's still a nice exclusive card.

I opened one of these up on youtube if anyone is interested in content or just want to see it, you can check it out here.

Well, apparently you didn't look hard enough. I made a thread on this that's still within the 30-day revival limit here: https://www.pokecommunity.com/threads/249619

That foil pattern (prism/broken glass pattern) is the one they've been using on promos for a while now, and added them into the decks when they released HGSS Unleashed, I think. Certainly makes it easier to tell the cards apart from their counterparts in the main set.

The rest of my thoughts are in that other thread. ;)

I bought the Green Tornado theme deck. Except it's not really full. I traded away some stuff like Deerling + Sawsbuck and 1 Munna + 1 Audino. I replaced them with:

Audino: Tauros
Deerling+Sawsbuck: Cacnea and Cacturne
Munna: Gallade

And for complimentary purposes, i added my old Slakoth and Vigoroth in there.
As you can see, i covered the lost ones with same ones of their types, so that should just about make up for it.

Anyway, i would never give away the Snivy and evos, the Venipede and evos or any of the awsome trainer cards i have. The reason i didn't replace the ones i traded with the ones i got in return for them in the trade, is because those were Electric types, who i'm using to build a new Electric-Water deck.

My Electric-Water deck isn't done, but this is what i have so far.

Piplup LV13, Knows Muddy water and Pound. HP: 60
Piplup LV9, Knows Peck and Water Splash. HP: 60
Prinplup LV25, Knows Surf and Bubblebeam. HP: 80
Luxio LV23, Knows Spark and Thunderous Claw. HP: 80
Luxray LV51, Pokebody: Rivalry, Knows Plasma and Shock Bolt. HP: 120
Pikachu LV15, Pokebody: Electro Recycle, Knows BikaBika. HP: 60
Electric Energy Card
Electrike LV18, Knows Random Spark and Tackle. HP: 60
Electrike LV10, Knows Roar and Thunder Fang. HP: 50
Manectric LV34, Knows Thunder Wave and Volt Crush. HP: 80
Staryu LV14, Knows Recover and Spinning Attack. HP: 50
Electric Energy
Remoraid LV18, Knows Splash and Trickle. HP: 60
Poliwhirl LV28, Knows Light Punch and Bubblebeam. HP: 80

Still planning on getting sopme evos and pre-evos, and some more Electric energys and new water energys too. I got some, like Manectric, for others, like Sawsbuck. And some were originally mine.
