    Do I really have to donate $10 to write a blog? I think that's ridiculous.
     
    You could also get 5000 posts!

    Otherwise, I'm afraid you're stuck with free blogging sites like Livejournal or Blogger. :( Blogging is a perk--an incentive to help out with the immense server costs or a thanks for being a dedicated member. They wouldn't be special if everyone had one and since PC is primarily a forum, it's not something everyone needs in the first place.
     
    Bmgf gets along just fine with free blogs.
     
    That's Bulbagarden. This is PokeCommunity :/ PC's member count is higher than Bulbagarden's. Do you know how many spammy blog entries we'd probably get a day if everyone had their own blog? And to top it off, since we seem to have a number of trolls come in, there might be mature content posted in those blogs for everyone to see, which means kids may be able to see it long before the staff do anything about it.

    It's just $10, anyways. That isn't too much now, is it?

    It's something we offer only to certain members here and I don't think that's likely to change.

    Just like to point this out. Look at the PC blogs page now and you'll find, like, two real blogs. Most of them are rather spammy and pointless and most of the good ones are often read by only active members, friends of the member who posted, or ignored completely. It's usually the latter, which is unfortunate because the spammy ones often get so many comments. It's rather ridiculous, but I guess they paid for their blogs and they can do what they please in them.

    Also, I find that the maturity level on Bulbagarden Forums is much... higher than PokéCommunity, simply because I find that PokéCommunity seems to be a little more open up to the fact that Pokémon is a children's game. Don't get me wrong, though, as I respect Bulbagarden Forums a great deal. But comparing two Pokémon forums and the way they operate is like comparing apples to oranges (omg girl, I hate that term, but it's true). Despite them both being Pokémon forums and focus on the same subject of discussion (lol nick, obviously), doesn't mean that they're the same at all. I'm sure you know that. Different forums are run differently from the next and that's not ever going to change.

    How? Write many, MANY awesome, quality posts about topics that matter to the users here and attract the attention of the staff (in a good way). If your posts are good and the staff thinks others would like to see/comment on them (or that they are unique enough) you may be offered a blog.

    I think Sammi told me about that before... but she told me it very, very, rarely happens. So... is that true? How often does it happen?
     
    Something I wanted to point out in regards to Bulbagarden in comparison to PokeCommunity is that in addition to its forum, it also has Bulbapedia which is probably their greatest draw in regards to traffic.

    Bulbagarden's Bulbapedia is pretty much one of the main reference points for all things Pokemon and so combined with all the pages in the Bulbapedia, their ad revenue generated from their Bulbapedia is probably pretty decent and so would allow them to offer what they offer.

    Considering their web host and what their web host specializes in (helping commercial/revenue-generating sites grow and succeed), I wouldn't consider Bulbagarden to be strictly a fan-based site (anymore). Revenue is revenue - passive, active, or otherwise.
     
    Oh.. I would also like to point out: Recurring Subscription. You pay like $2 a month. It automatically puts you at tier four(unless its changed?) which is enough to blog.
