    Is it bad?
Should I breed with two different genders rather than a ditto and a pokemon?
Can I still get shiny's when using a ditto?

There's no negative consequences to breeding with Ditto (other than no egg moves, but...). You can still get shinies regardless of whether you breed with Ditto or not.

    1) You can only hatch Male-only Pokémon eggs (Tauros, etc) this way. Breeding a Manaphy with a Ditto's the only way to get a Phione. If you have a Ditto with good IVs, it'll be of great use later on.

    2) But of course, there are a few cases where it's better to breed 2 different-gendered compatible Pokémon; more importantly, Eggmoves: Since Male parents are the ones to pass down Egg moves, Female-only Pokémon that you want to give Egg Moves to will need a Male partner with the desired moves.

3)Yes, you can still get Shinies with Ditto.

So it all depends on the reasons you'll be breeding.
    Hope this helped.

    EDIT: Dammit. Beaten to it.
