I went to Paramore last night, and HOLY HELL it was awesome! They're an awesome band, and this is the first time they've played in New Zealand. Last night was the Auckland show, and they should be getting ready to come out down in Christchurch about now.
I can not stress enough how freaking awesome a show it was. Their set was quite short - around an hour and ten - but it was seriously intense. I got home and fell into bed about one in the morning (then had to get up five hours later to go to school u_u). So after slogging through today with almost no voice (thank Mew there's no Drama on Fridays!), I got home and . . . well, crashed again.
On the whole, though, it's been a damn awesome couple of days. Yesterday was coincidentally the senior Drama field trip - up to Auckland (where Paramore were to be playing). So I took the bus up with the guys, etc etc, and we went to the play - called Le Sud. It was darned awesome, actually. I had a front row seat.
After that, the rest of the class went back home while my mate Pedro (who went to the concert with me) and I hung around. Mum (who is awesome btw) drove up from home to drive us to the concert, but we had about five hours to kill, so we went to see the new Alice in Wonderland movie. And guess what?
It was seriously epic. It was actually really well done, and Johnny Depp was the perfect Hatter, Stephen Fry was an eerie Cheshire Cat, and Alan Rickman made a wonderful caterpillar. The lead actress (whose name I ironically cannot remember for the life of me) was pretty good, too, and that suit of armour in the final battle? Fwee.
And then Paramore! We spent about half an hour standing in line, so we amused ourselves by speaking in loud voices with faux British accents on the weirdest and most varied range of topics, including how the people behind us would remember 'those two weird teenagers with British accents in front of us in line'. The people behind us found this most amusing, as did the people behind them and the people in front of us. :>
Oh, and I swear upon my mortal soul (do I have one? idk) that I saw an Axel cosplayer. <3
The show itself was, as I've already said, really awesome. The opening act was a sort of coalition between two good local bands, Streetwise Scarlet and Goodnight Nurse. The drummer was awesome, but we couldn't hear the vocalist very well. (It was just those two and a backing track.) It started getting awesome, though, when they pulled out a bag full of lettuces and started drop-kicking them into the crowd.
I am not exaggerating. Then they started flinging sausages. On their second-to-last song, someone that looked suspiciously like Hayley Williams came out wearing an Iron Man mask and took over the drums while the drummer did somersaults and backflips all over the stage.
The next part kinda failed, though. The lights came up and they played elevator music for twenty minutes while the stage was cleaned off. Hmm. :/
And then Paramore came on stage, and all was forgiven. I was quite happy to yell myself hoarse for the next hour and a bit. :3
Also, I didn't really notice before, but Hayley Williams is extremely hot. XD <3
Paramore were a really dynamic band on stage. They all moved around (except the drummer, of course) the stage, not just the lead singer.
Also, today was Dad's birthday, whee. I took my little sister to a little fair at the local church. She just kept doing the lucky dip, but I found a banana cake ($4.50), a book of 187 short stories ($2) and a Ricky Martin cassette tape ($0.50). Made my day.
Also, my Spanish teacher had never heard of Paramore, so he was a little, uh . . . confused when I told him where I was yesterday.
(If you still don't get it, look up 'paramour' in the dictionary.)
Hell yeah. Also, I've had The Only Exception on loop for the last couple of hours. New favourite song.
