These graphical arts are what drive me towards graphical designing. I encourage constructive criticism so I and other graphic artists may get better. And to all graphic artists, I hope you enjoy the feeling it is to be a graphic artist!

    Merry Christmas!

Seems you're using either emboss, engrave, gradient map or another word I forgot, lol I suck at defining. :x But the main effect you're using for all your tags isn't really helping them, since it appears to distort the actual colours so they seem well, odd. Try using just the render (the cut out image) and play around with the background, altering that, but not the actual render otherwise your main render looks somewhat awkward.

There's also colour choices going into this too, especially on your text. For example, on mystical wonders, it seems that you've probably burn tooled the text which somewhat distorts it and ruins readability, and besides that, bright magenta isn't really good for any of them because it isn't complimenting the background and definitely doesn't suit the font type. If you wanted to use that font, I'd suggest going with just black, no fill, or another colour which highlights the main part of the stock, which is the Pokemon, so maybe for Ninetales, the red of its eye, but as it is now the text looks really aliased, so perhaps you'd be better off trying anti-aliased text, which is an option in most graphical programs when you select text. Or if not, try another font, either could work to your advantage. Also, you should probably watch your placement of text. For example, on Ninetales one, if you moved it near its mouth it would create a much stronger focal point than where it actually is now. As for Bulbasaur, the right idea imo, but the text is too bright and draws attention from the Bulbasaur (there's also a border, watch for that, it works out on some graphics to have half a border but considering your style so far it just takes away from the quality of your tags). And as for Charmander, it completely draws away attention from the main focal, aka the tail, so really watch text positioning.

But really, play around with different effects otherwise your graphics will look bland - and try not to draw attention away from your focal, which primarily is the most important part. Good start for beginning, though. :)

Ok. So, I'll just put the text just black and see what it looks like. I'll also play around with the background to see what I get. Thanks for the feedback!:)

Ok. How's the new "Cast Away"? Is it better?

Your tags are nice, but the text doesn't seem to suit them somehow. I think it's the black around the text, but I'm not sure. Either way, I like your tags.

Your icons are okay, you could do a bit more to the Pokemon icons, but the gif icons are pretty cool.
Yeah, it's mostly the black text stroke. But, thanks for the feedback!

Here are some more icons for your viewing. They are from the movie, Transformers 3.

What's with all of the Icon sizes? ):

    Icons are usually; 100 x 100 or 150 x 150 sometimes they're 130 x 130. Yours are like 13 x 105, 130 x 102, 130 x 110 etc. \:
Sorry. I can fix the non-animated ones, but I can't fix the animated ones because they come out that way using a different program.

    Okay! All non-animated icons are now 120px x 110px!

    Update

The first post of this gallery is now updated with some new CSS. This gallery's name has been changed to Inspiration Draws Desires; Ideas Make Possibilities. And finally, I added a wallpaper to my gallery on the first post!

    Hope you enjoy my artworks!:)

What dragonomega meant by the icon sizes, is that they should be 100x100 or 150x150. Making the non-animated ones 120x110 is still a weird size... But yeah, each to his own I guess. xP

Regarding the two Pokemon icons, the colouring is actually quite good, but the text brings them both down heaps. Firstly, because the colour are too bright and clash with the colours on the icon. You could fix this by directly copying a colour you've got in the icon already, or go with a white or black or something of a similar hue. Secondly, and definitely more importantly, you've positioned the text almost directly over the focal point of the icon. So it not only is drawing attention, but it is blocking us from focusing on the focal point which isn't very good... Just needs a bit of repositioning, but that's easily fixed and that's something that you will improve on very quickly through practise and experimentation.

As for the wallpaper, I mentioned it in your blog post, but from scratch, it is quite impressive and definitely a good use of brushing and elements of Photoshop! What I also said was that the stars are way too dense. Not a bad thing really, I just think you possibly went a little overboard, and now there are too many stars and all bunched up close together which doesn't feel realistic and feels a little messy. Other than that, it doesn't need that much else, perhaps some more depth, different amounts of blur in stars rather than just the sharp 1px ones and the blurry soft brushes in the back. But yeah, quite nice!

    Ok. I'll work on that!:)

I have updated my first post with 3 new tags to see how I would do on them. Hope you like them!:)

Nice new CSS and layout and whatnot! ;)

Anyway, I want to give you more general comments rather than specific CnC on each piece if that's ok. I believe that you should stop with your space / abstract / not human focal pieces and do a solid amount of ones with like characters or people stocks to get a sense of the basics of tags. Your wallpapers are fine, and what you are doing compliments the larger canvas, but nearly all of your tags are considerably lower in standard despite using similar styles. This is because what works in LPs do NOT carry over to tags. To me, it looks like you have completely skipped over the basics in making tags and dived straight into doing your own thing. This isn't necessarily completely bad, but if you hope to move up a class with your tags, you need to do those basics and progress from there.

I don't know if you've never done the kind of typical tag with a human focal and just never posted them, or if you've never considered doing one, but if you are serious about keeping tagging as a hobby, you absolutely need to do some. So, focus your attentions thusly, because if for no other reason, it will be more beneficial for you to actually learn new things.

Hope that wasn't too harsh, but I believe it is something you've just overlooked without realising, but will only help you.

Nah, that wasn't harsh! I was actually some great advice!:)

The thing is with tags is that my brain is like hardwired for larger pieces. Making small pieces are hard for me to process. Icons are easy to me becuase when they're too small and I don't havr to focus on them too much. But tags are the medium between icons and wallpapers. Maybe like you said, I should try to put the effort I put into wallpapers for tags. I think I will actually try that.:) But, it is just EASIER for my brain to work itself if I'm working on a larger piece. But hey, I will try your suggestion.:D

Now, I have made tags with people stocks and renders, anime stocks and renders before. Actually when I started with graphical art (which is when I joined PC), tags were the first thing I worked on. So naturally, the people stock/render tags were the first ones. But, I didn't have much luck with them. So, I took a break from tags and tried icons and wallpapers. Surprisingly to me, wallpapers came to me easily. So did icons. So after I got the hang of the graphical art in Photoshop, I upgraded my Photoshop into Adobe Photoshop CS5.1. And then, I started working at tags again. But, they were horrible. The people tags I made didn't come out good at all. I have one posted somewhere in G&P and I can find it for you if you want. But, since I didn't have much luck with people tags, I put my favorite thing into tags. Space & Astronomy. And, that's how I am now.

I will give your idea a try and on my next tag, I will post it here. I will try with some people stocks. And thanks for posting feedback on my gallery! (I hardly get any responses here.):)
