Britney Spears Discussion Thread

The day she shaved her head is the day I enter a sort of "Lol Nirvana"

Honestly, I've always thought of her music as a joke, leftovers from a time when boy bands ruled the earth.

I'm not going to lie here. I freakin' loved Britney Spears back in the day. I don't really like her as much now, but even still, it hurt to see all the tabloids everytime I was in a grocrey store or something. She's a normal person, it's just the fact that she's famous that gets all the media swamped on her. Lets take the Sean Preston in her lap situation. You know what? When I was a baby, I've sat on my dad's lap while he was driving. Were we in the news for that? No, we were not. Why was Britney? Because she's Britney. Every little mistake she makes is publicised because she's famous.

And don't even get me started on shaving her head. You know what? I have a friend who shaved her head. So what? It's just because it's Britney that it was looked into and cared about so much.

PS: Love Womanizer. <333

It's pop music. It's not like rock where the majority of the bands out there write and compose all the songs on their albums. Pop music is meant for you to just feel good, and have fun while listening to and and that is what Britney's music is.

For the record, That album cover just shows a B, its not a nickname. Thats the end of that discussion, I think I might just pop in B Day cause I love it when Jay calls her B on that one track.
Anyway, Phonography is a really great song. It is now my favorite off the album and it was the last I heard.

You're the only one who's really continuing that discussion. When I made this thread, I had no view of a nickname of "B" being brought up. If someone wants to call Britney B, so be it. I don't really understand why you're arguing about it. It's not like you're going to change their minds of who should be called that. I mean, seriously. B's just a letter and hardly anything to fight about.

I don't know what thread you're viewing, but there isn't exactly a fight here. xD
Anyway, I've been listening to Blackout again. I was listening to Freakshow in my car today and I didn't realize how Robyn reminiscent it was. Very good song for those who skipped over it on Blackout or haven't given it a listen yet at all.

Regardless of if it's a fight or not, it's still rather pointless to debate with people over who "reserved" the nickname of B first and I'm not saying you're in that (for some reason, when I read your post, I assumed you misread who I was quoting because I was quoting Haza Divo. But, regardless... I'm kind of being hypocritical in continuing the discussion of that myself, so I'll be quiet about it now.)

With that aside, strangely enough, I have been to Blackout as well. It wasn't until Circus and the documentary that she made with MTV that I really began to understand the meaning behind each of the songs in Blackout. Even though she didn't write the majority of the songs included on the album, they still relate to her in some way or another which is another factor that I enjoy about listening to her because it's not 'just Pop music' being played. They have meaning to them just like the majority of the good songs out there.

Meanings of the blackout songs? Aren't most of them about sex?
Could you be more specific please? I think the only "personal" songs on that album are "Piece of Me" and "Why should I be sad" <- worst song on the album.

Maybe I don't get it 'cause I haven't seen the documentary yet...

Speaking of that video, it's been really controversial over whether she lip syncs the whole time during the song or sings along with it. I believe that she sings along with the actual recorded track. I don't have a problem with lip syncing at all to be honest. I mean, there's so much dancing and moving around on the stage it would be impossible to be singing the whole time without showing any signs of restraint of voice and all that.. horrible stuff that singers and performers get while performing their routine.

With that said, what does everyone think about that or about lip syncing in general with stars?
I don't think she was lip syncing in that video, but there is another when she is on the X-Factor now that was lip syncing, but she had to perform so much that I can understand her lip syncing there,

But no she was not lip syncing in the video in my profile, you can clearly see so when they show her face when she's in the front of the stage.

Actually I was trying to get the final word in on it but every quote after that was not my doing so I wouldnt say so hun,

I think you may be looking at it in a sense that's direct. Some of the songs, even though people may not see it, to me, have metaphoric sense. In my opinion Gimme More, Piece of Me, Radar, Break the Ice, Get Naked (I Got A Plan), Freakshow, and Hot as Ice all have a meaning of how people view her in both professional and personal living styles. Each one kind of connects with the other and once you see the documentary, you can really tell that that's the case since that was just after her.. blackout of her life to be frank. And just as Blackout reflects her blackout periods, Circus reflects her comeback (but I think everyone knows that).

K?

I don't listen to Britney Spears all that much. That's not to say that I don't think many of her songs are catchy, because some of them are. I just think of pop music as more about the fame and fandom instead of the actual music. It's not that I don't like pop music or Britney Spears, I just like other genres much better.

Oh, now I get what you mean. Yes, Blackout is a dark album.. It was something different and fresh at the time, but now looking back, it just sounds like Robo-Brit.
Though, I have to admit, my favorite songs are mostly from blackout :D

I wish more people were like you. People usually have a love/hate relationship with Brit.. And I think you may be right about Pop music... it's more about entertainment.

I was surprised you didn't know what I meant by that. You out of the majority of the people who read this thread seeing as how your name and theme are dedicated towards Britney. It's good to know you understand what I'm talking about when I say metaphoric sense instead of literal as well since that's usually the way I read lyrics of hers and many others. And yes, I do agree with the fact of the majority of the songs having that robotic sound to it. That's something I didn't like at first because it just sounded really croaky, but I've grown to like it since it's a completely different sound from that majority of her albums she puts out due to that.

Being someone who's in a love-relationship with Britney Spears, I agree with this. Aurafire, I'm actually glad you said what you said because in the majority of the case, people just dislike her because of various other reasons and actually do listen to her songs without saying that to anybody due to being embarrassed by liking her music. Though you stated you only like a hand few of them, at least you admit to that. One of my friends caught me listening to it and was surprised that I would like songs from her and gave me this weird look that I probably took wrongly. I asked what was wrong with liking her and they didn't respond. So clearly someone I know very well... or supposedly, has some hate towards her.

While I'm not exactly pleased with the whole attention-grabbing debacle she had with her kids, I'll admit that her music is catchy. I've been known to listen to dance/pop/R&B occasionally. It's not my favorite music, but it's not bad. I think the reason people feel like they can't like Britney Spears is that they're afraid that they'll be selling out their own style of music by liking her. If you like something, why should you be ashamed of it? People tend to be very hypocritical about their music choices. =/

Oh at first, I thought you meant there was a "deep" meaning in the blackout songs, which was a bit confusing for me =]

Btw, people, especially guys, don't like Britney because the majority of her male fans are gays..

Thats me! Wait, does that make me typical in this aspect? Actually the first song I liked of hers was Toxic and never again until Gimme More! lol.

Amnesia has been on repeat in my head, on my iPod, and in my car for the past like 3 days. I can't get enough of it. If I can find an import version of the Japanese Deluxe Edition I might buy it.

Yep, it's the type of song you love from the first time you hear it and you just can't get out of your head.
