My favorite fire move is Heat Wave.
On the standard pokemon games, I see it as the go-between of Flamethrower & Fire Blast & on the Mystery Dungeon games, it hits all opponents in the room!


My favorite dual fire type...
Either Volcarona or Blaziken...

Volcarona is a powerful pokemon, especially after Quiver Dance & Sunny Day... (or Ninetales Drought) Plus it looks so cuddly!

Blaziken has always been a favorite since it came out...
I hated the fact that Infernape out-classed it, but now that's not the case, because Blaziken now has Speed Boost!
(But it got banned to ubers... Speed Boost helped TOO much...)


(We can talk about ANY fire types, not just the ones shown on the list.
They will be added ASAP...)

Hey, guys. I'm a fire specialist since Pokemon Yellow and a former fire gym leader in my own league. Fire pokemon are definitely my favourite.

I have a question, though. What is everyone's opinion of how to use fire pokemon best? I know everyone thinks fire pokemon are built only for power (kinda like James Dean, the live fast, die young type), but I prefer to be tricky with my teams. Of course, nowadays it's too easy to deal with fire's common weaknesses with moves like solarbeam, grass knot, and energy ball.

Anyways, welcome to the club!
I usually see fire as being an all-out offensive type...
But yes, there are a varity of things you can do with them:
Heatran can be defensive, (The only fire type I know of that can be defensive, though...) Ninetales, Chandelure & a few others can indeed be tricky.
But how to best use fire pokemon really depends on the pokemon itself.
& I think a good fire type is always helpful on a team, to counter the most troublesome Steel types, like Metagross, Scizor, Ferrothorn, etc.

If that's a problem, I'll re-write the list, as it's rather short right now, so re-writing the list to inculde partners won't be a problem.

I don't think think it's possible to generalise the usage of Fire types. Even though competitively viable Fire types are lesser than the others and their usage restricted, some of them like Blaziken, Heatran, Volcarona and a few others are quite a threat.

When it comes to competitive battling, my use of Fire type Pokemon varies greatly from using a Pokemon like Heatran defensively to another like Volcarona for sweeping and Chandelure for a hit and run strategy.

Reason to join: I used to not care about fire pokémon very much, but lately they've grown on me again. There are so many interesting species in the fire type and fire attacks are cool. Monferno is, at least currently, my favorite fire pokémon. Because I like it's fighting abilities and nimbleness :p But the Charmander-family and Arcanine are awesome as well.

Pokémon partners: Monferno, Charmeleon and Arcanine.

Which was your first Fire type Pokemon and what were your experiences with it?
Charmander, I guess, when playing Yellow version. I evolved it into Charizard and went through with it in the Elite 4. It wasn't very useful xD But I wanted a fire type on my team to keep up the rock-paper-scissors with Venusaur and Blastoise /n00b then

What is your favourite full evolved form of a Fire Pokemon and why?
Arcanine. Tigers are mwaaaah~<3 But Charizard is nice too, since it flies and is a dragon.

If you could be a Fire type Pokemon, which one would you like to be?
Easily a Monferno :D To jump around nimbly, being strong with fighting abilities AND have fire powers... neeeat.

Which is your favourite Fire type move?
Flamethrower is reliable and nice. But Flame Wheel is rather cool. I don't know much about the newer moves in 4th and 5th gen.

Which is your favourite dual typed Fire Pokemon and why?
I think I've said that already ^^' Monferno, for reasons above.

Happens a lot, sadly, that group starters disappear. Same with RP starters now and then.

Speaking of RPing, I'm going to be a fire gym leader in a new RP that's starting soon. I'm having Charizard, Monferno, Arcanine and a shiny Lampent. Some of my favourite fire pokémon~


There are some pokémon that I just haven't gotten around liking. Torkoal and Slugma/Magcargo. They seem so... slow and clumsy. But today I watched a clip from an anime episode where Ash's Torkoal battles a Registeel and man that's one cool pokémon. I just never could imagine it being like that when I only saw the sprite in the games. I never watched enough Hoenn anime to see Torkoal there before.

Why: I love Fire Pokemon! I always use at least one Fire type on my team in the games and my favorite Pokemon is Rapidash.

Rapidash! Because... I love unicorns and it'd be awesome to run at speeds over 100mph. I can go to so many places and see so many things at speeds like that.

Flamethrower! It does pretty good damage and has very high accuracy. Fireblast is pretty cool, too although I wish the accuracy were higher.

Which is your favourite dual typed Fire Pokemon and why?
Moltres. No real reason other than I love phoenixes and I think it's pretty.
 
With such a long absence from the original club owner, I'm allowing this club to be restarted as a new thread by the co-owner so they can have better handle of the club.
