But mum! You're supposed to press A..

This only happened to me a few minutes ago, but I caught my mum trying to play my Pokemon Platinum on an emulator on her phone, unfortunlately DS emulators are hella hard to run so I decided to open a GBA emulator with Emerald. She sadly had eyes that could barely read, so I told her not to continue as it would be hard. Anyway, this raised a question that I now want to ask to the rest of this forum:

Have you had any parents or carers who have ever played/attempted to play a Pokemon game? If so, I'd love to hear how it went! If not, have you ever considered letting them have a try?

I don't think she's ever had an interest. She played games before I was born/before I was old enough to remember, but she's not much of a gamer anymore.

No but I like the idea, I'll see if they could play it xD

I just got my 35 year old uncle to start playing and he is really into it. He's playing a GBA emulator on his tablet. I told him to try Emerald and he bought a tablet controller so he didnt have to hold the tablet and use the touchy controls on the touch screen.

My dad would used to watch the anime with me every once in a while when I was kid, but never played the games, sadly. I did try getting him into it, but he just never got around. :( My aunt does play, though, but she's relatively new to them; she's gotten into Pokémon around generation four, when she bought herself a DS.

My parents are the type that would automatically dismiss anything that is not "meant" for their age group (bs, obviously, since Pokemon is meant for everyone ;)) so my parents have not touched a Pokemon game ever.

Actually, the first time I played a Pokemon game on an emulator, it was a like a joint save file with my dad. I remember it quite vividly, because I never would've used a Magneton in Emerald, haha. It was a lot of fun to share something I enjoyed so much with my dad, even if he only did it to monitor what I was doing on his computer, haha. I think he secretly enjoyed it too :]
