What's your thoughts on it? A complete waste of money or a chance to replay through the storyline since Pokemon games only uses one primary save game file? Or a reason like with HG and SS to get Rayquaza?

With Black and White I'm gonna get both mainly just so that way I can get both of the legendaries and all of the starters.

The one I get less attached to will be a gift for my older sister and 6 year old niece.

I always buy both, usually for the novelty of saying that I have them both, and for in the future when I wanna do challenges. The better one typically becomes the storage game, and since BW introduces a new generation, one of them will definitely be storage.

When Red Blue and Yellow where the 'current' generation of Pokemon games, I had all three. The same happened with Gold Silver and Crystal. :P

i always buy both versions. i like to collect the games. and if i dont buy both i end up regretting it. like with leafgreen.

*looks at her game collection* Er, I have:

    Red, Blue, Yellow
    Gold, Silver, Crystal
    LeafGreen
Emerald (+ bid on Sapphire on eBay atm)
    Diamond, Pearl, Platinum
    HeartGold, SoulSilver

And I'm planning on buying Black and White. =] All I can say is, thank Io for eBay and CeX; that's where most of my games come from. I only bought Gold a year ago and it was new in the box, sealed! So that was fun. But yeah, I like having all of the versions of each Generation because then I have all of the Pokémon aside Events.

Of course, it is just a marketing ploy on Nintendo's side (and a damn clever one) but at the end of the day they don't make anybody buy anything, so I'm cool with it.

I'm getting both (erhem, all three!). For gen. IV I bought Pearl, and then I bought Platinum. Sometime later I traded in Pearl (wtf was wrong with me I don't even... I regret doing that so much) so that I could have money for another game. Then my brother got a hold of a copy of Diamond, I still to this day have no idea how. He's 12 and I don't remember him or anyone else buying it. I do know this much, though: he got that game because I turned him on to Pokemon. +1 for the Pokemon fans. :Dd

I've had all versions at one point or another, but the only reason I'm not getting HG is because it's expensiveeeeeee!

Lol, I have (or have had at one point):

    Blue, Yellow
    Gold, Silver, Crystal
    Ruby, Sapphire
    Diamond, Pearl, *2* Platinums
    Heartgold, SouldSilver

I have a little brother, so we tend to double up on any handheld game if it doesn't have many save files or if it has local multiplayer...hence the 2 platinums. XD

I usually use my most recent playthrough for my main file (ie, ev training, Battle Frontier, copying to my PBR, etc) and older ones just hold old stuff or trade over masterballs, rare candies, and other valuable stuff to my latest game. I ended up using my Platinum, LeafGreen, and Diamond to trade over three master balls to use on Raikou, Entei and Latios. That is one of my favorite parts of owning multiple games. :)

A waste of money if you ask me! You know what sounds like a good idea though? ...Renting the other version from a place like Blockbuster, catching the Pokemon you want that you can't get on your other game, and then transferring them. XD ... AHHH!! I need to try that sometime!!!

YOU STILL HAVE ALL OF THEM OMGGGG I LOST ALL OF MINE </3

yeah, im planning on only getting white. Im currently trying to buy emerald and leaf green for gba instead xD

YOU STILL HAVE ALL OF THEM OMGGGG I LOST ALL OF MINE </3

I thought I had lost all of mine as well, then I checked a bag at the end of my bed and discovered all of my GameBoys and old games. =] I was dead-chuffed that day. And none of my save batteries have ever gone, either!

Until I got Heart Gold all the Pokémon games I got were either bought for me as a gift or I got them from a friend or something. I wouldn't buy the other version of the game, unless it was like Platinum for example.

I usually stick to one copy and trade with someone who has the other, it's a lot cheaper that way.

I try to get, now (only started with Emerald), original new game, 3rd version, and inevitable remake.

    So far:

    3rd Gen

    Emerald
    LeafGreen

    4th Gen

    Diamond
    Platinum
    HeartGold

Although I have had ownership of SoulSilver. I just didn't like the intro...Whirl Islands....lack of certain pokemon.....basically, to me, HeartGold was better.
