well if you want to listen to how the pokemon in japan sound like then get your gamecube. get the copy of super smash bros. melee. turn off all the items excpt the pokeballs. then go to lanagaue and change the lanageue to japanes and if you can get to figth on the game in a different lanageue then you will hear the pokemon say their names in japanes(most of their names are different ex bellossom and jigglypuff)

I heard that the names came from the creator because he is very interested in animals, and has a butterfly collection or something like that? It was a long time ago when I read about it, but I heard Bulbasaur was the first one he came up with.
