As an avid ROM hacker who happens to also have a lot of $$$ I'd like to make things more interesting with contests and with that, it'll push some contestants to strive to be better or even newcomers to learn a thing or two. Whether it be a scripting contest or a map-making contest, or whatever, it'll promote the site when people see there are contests involved ... plus it's fun and I want to see it happen so I just want to make sure I'm allowed to host contest threads for real cash and prizes

At least as far as I know, it's not allowed.

Monetary transactions, whether personal or commercial, are not allowed in any of our public forums.

One thing that we sometimes do with contests and things of that sort is, we'll upgrade the winner's/participants' supporter tier, which is nice for users who might not have the money or resources to become supporters. Those events usually tend to go well and the recipients usually really appreciate it, so that's an option :)

In addition to what Sopheria said above, if you ever want to share your event ideas you can always bring it up with the mods if you want to. Remember that they're never afraid to hear what you might have in store.
