Can I mod a 2DS Flat with New Software Updates?

Hello, hello.

If you've seen my intro post, you know that I'm trying to mod one of my DSs to play older Pokemon games. Is there a way I can do this even when my 2DS is updated? And if there is a way, what is it?

Think the latest version has a new method so yes modding is possible.
