Question: Can regular members help too?

I'm wondering if regular members with, like, a certain # of posts or something could do some kind of training thing, where other forum staff or the staff here can train them so they would be better staff. Just wondering =)

PokéCommunity selects staff members based on their productivity, quality of posts, and helpfulness. If they feel that the member is eligible for a position, they will be notified. There is no way you can become a staff member by just "upping" your post count, or bribing them. However, I doubt that sort of thing will ever exist. You can try, but I doubt it will be considered.

so they would be better staff
Are you saying that the staff needs training, or do you want to be trained?

If you want to be a member of staff, stay active, be nice, helpful, don't break the rules, and don't ask. If they want you, then they will come to you.

Haha. If I read your post correctly, you're suggesting some sort of training camp for normal members where they get to learn how to act properly as members of staff. There are a few things I need to ask about that:

1). Who would teach the commoners? Most of the staff are too busy to do much more than keep the forum going, let alone teaching regular members how to be staff if they get promoted.

2). What's the point of it? There are fifty thousand members on this forum and about a quarter of a hundred happen to be the staff on it. Do you really think that this training camp will make any sort of difference for the likeliness of people's promotions if it went ahead (which it won't)?.

Er, yeah. Crazy idea that isn't going to go anywhere anytime soon, in my opinion.

The best thing a normal member could do to be helpful would be to report any wrongdoing that you see to the staff.
    ^_^

Virtual Chatot's got it right. The best thing a normal member can do is just behave, follow the rules, and report whenever they see someone out of line.

We choose members who meet this criteria (and others) to be mods. There's no training period. We'll just come to the candidates, ask if they're interested in the position, and that's that. Such a small percentage of members become staff that there's really no point in a general training period once you reach x amount of posts and whatnot because it would be a waste of time and resources. It's just a lot better to continue as we're doing and if new mods need help being mods, there are plenty of experienced mentors to go to.

I hope that answers your question?
