Can Someone Explain "Claims" To Me?

I see that on other user's signatures as well as on about me pages have this, and I'm not quite sure what they are. Can someone explain it to me please? Thank you! (:

There are some claim threads here on PC where you can claim something. Like in the Pokemon Claim Thread, you can claim your favorite Pokemon. It's just a way of...I guess declaring your likeness to that Pokemon, and it's by no means a necessity to enjoy the forums. It's all in good fun. :) There's also a Bishie Claim Thread in General Entertainment, to claim fictional characters. The Pokemon Claim Thread is in Pokemon General. So yeah!

That's the Bishie Claim Thread. Basically you claim a character as yours, I dunno what it means. Try to read the thread or ask Antemortem
