For some odd reason I can't connect with the e-cards that unlock mystery events in Ruby and Sapphire. I keep getting a message on the e-reader telling me to connect to Ruby or Sapphire and select Mystery Event. Then when I do select it, it says that it's connecting, however, it stays on that message and never connects with the e-reader no matter how long I wait. I am connecting from a GBA to a GBA SP.

    I've checked:

    ~Tried using a different e-reader.
~Used a different e-card that wasn't one of the event cards and it worked.
~Checked and made sure both the e-reader and link cable are in good and tight.
~Made sure the e-cards weren't bent, dusty or damaged. They're brand new.

The e-reader's inside the GBA and Ruby Version is inside the GBA SP. And yes, I am connecting a GBA link cable from the e-reader into the GBA SP. I think there's something I'm not doing right here. Do I have to beat the Pokemon League before the game can read the cards?
