Hey, why's everyone talkin' 'bout me behind my back!? Oh... cat OR dog; not cat AND dog!

I've had both in the past, and like both for different reasons but, gun to head, I'd have to say dog. It might be because I've got a dog now and she's amazing, but there's also more of a dependency relationship with a dog that one doesn't get with a cat. Cats can come and go as they please, which means they're less high-maintenance, but one forms a weaker bond with them accordingly. With dogs, you have to walk them and play with them and though that might not be everyone's cup of tea, you do form a tight bond over the years.
 
Dogs, definitely. A dog's love is the closest thing to unconditional you can get, they're loyal and they're great to be around. Cats are generally more up-themselves and don't appreciate you/listen to you.
 
I've always preferred cats. Small, cute, easy to cuddle (if they'll let you), I like their purring, and they don't need to go out for walks. :D

That said, I like dogs, too. We haven't had one in the house for a good ten years, though. I think my family doesn't like walking them.
 
Hmm, both cats and dogs are nice, but for this, I'm going for cats. Mainly just 'cuz I've owned one before.

Dogs all the way baby, I mean, like PTT mentioned; dogs are loyal companions, fun, excitable animals that stink sometimes are super fluffy. The only downside is that I hate dogs with short coats, I want the fluffiness! ;3

I've lived with a dog all my life and I just can't break from not loving them. Though, I am considering when I move out to buy a cat and a dog. Really fluffy ones at that too.
 
I really love both. Though, cats would have to win this round. They're easier to take care of. I love them both equally, but I'm also a lazy, lazy person.

Midnite- 4.8 years old
Kiita- 3.9 years old

Dogs hands down. They actually want to be with you and play. I also like that they have to be walked (mine has to go for runs too) because that keeps me from being a lazy ass xD and you can teach dogs to pretty much do anything, as long as you're committed to teaching them.

Another thing, dogs can save people's lives with their noses. Pretty epic 8D
