I just learned of a series of birthday Pokémon - Pikachu, Eevee, and every Eeveelution - that all know a new move called "Celebrate". Perhaps the reason I didn't know of it is because they only came out in Japan, as well as the fact that the move really does nothing in battle, acting like Splash does for a few Pokémon.

I think the idea is to use it on a special day, such as your own birthday. It can also be used 40 times as a stalling move, such as trying to allow for something in battle (for instance, another Pokémon poisons the opponent and you swap out and stall-Cebebrate before the HP is low enough to catch the opponent). But, in reality, was this move worth adding to the movelist?

Didn't know this move existed until I played a Metronome battle on our server and someone ended up using it. Think it's pretty weird that they made a whole move like this (since who would keep this on their Pokemon's moveset ?_?) but oh well. They should at least share it with the rest of the world!

Speaking of Metronome, I think it would be pretty great if they could modify Celebrate to behave like it. Only difference would is that whoever uses this would only be able to utilize attacks that your team members know. Cannot tell how popular it would be in competitive scene, if at all, but that would definitely add more value to this move, and make it generally better in terms of usefulness.

Isn't that what Assist is for...? Or did I read that wrongly?

Anyway, I believe Celebrate is just a total gimmick move to make people happy.

The main reason Game Freak added it is to show people they aren't always objective when it comes to programming and like to have fun if it helps their popularity. At least I got a few laughs after I knew about it.

Oh, right, I totally forgot about Assist, haha. Perhaps we could take this even further, and have this move utilize attacks that could be learned by your team members as a whole, and not limit it to only those that they have in their move-sets?
