Hi I have started training myself for hacking (after spending half my life training pokemon for battles) and am learning scripting (PKSV) and building map (Advanced map). I've played a few hacks viz. Liquid Crystal, AshGrey, Sacred Gold, Blaze Black 2 and some other gen ii hacks (I don't remember the names). About later generations (e.g. BlazeBlack) it is just about adding complete set of pokemon or increasing difficulty of trainer/gym leaders battles. But since editing GBA rom is way easy and lots of things could be done I've decided to start with a gba rom (FireRed or Ruby).

Now, the problem is that what all I've been doing is going helter-skelter. I don't know how to begin with (map, scripts, sprites or tiles???). Presently, I am not trying to develop any new storyline but I want to do something like LiquidCrystal (just enhance the experience of already existing storyline). There are few thing I have on my mind:
    • brand new look (tilesets)
    • additional regions from the anime
    • new concepts (e.g. move relearning machine in Liquid Crystal)
    • new trainers (more number)
    • increased difficulty

This I would be considering as a beginning project. I am not used to developing graphics so I need help on tilesets (I have read few tutorials but ended up confused and had no success after trying out practically). Also, I want to know is there a tutorial which gives entire (or at least maximum possible) list of commands used in scripting.

Don't use PKSV, it's outdated. Better use XSE and there's a diegoisawesome's Mega-Huge XSE Scripting Tutorial (just search on Google).

Thanks for the advise. Tutorial is cool. I had tried XSE earlier but the tutorial I found was not very helpful. I guess I shall be using XSE here onwards. But I still need help for inserting new tile sets. Any good tutorial??? (I already have tried two).

I think Le Pug has a very good tile inserting tutorial out right now, I may be wrong though.

You're not gonna find one better than diegoisawesome's, and his is fantastic.
