Chansey

It is quite possible that Chansey will effectively become stronger when she's able to evolve into Blissey. Right now, she's no different that a rattata or spearow, in that she's the baby form of a two-stage evolutionary line. That's not to say that Blissey will definitely be amazing or anything, but should be better than Chansey :)

Chansey being so low and the gym pokemon being so high that all you have to do is beat one pokemon with chansey to get over 1500 experience from the fight and this makes the gym level up so quickly. Chansey wont beat the whole gym but with its huge HP it can beat one pokemon then you quit the fight and watch the gym's level rise. Go ahead try it out guys

Do you mean XP or Prestige?

I found one near my house (in the same place where I'd found a Snorlax days before) and it ran away despite all the berries I shoved into its mouth. Still pretty sad about that since I'll probably have to get one from a 10k egg and I never get 10k eggs.

I find the prestige abuse very interesting to say the least, I'd love to try this out if I ever find one haha. Raising prestige can be a pain in the butt so it'd be nice having a way to solve this. Still looking for one for now but I'm sure I'll find her eventually and when I do she'll become my gym slave!

I tried it yesterday and the prestige trick does work pretty nicely. I had my chansey (about 350 cp) and I was fighting the first pokemon in the gym (which was over 700, so twice her level) and I was getting +1000 prestige for beating it, pretty sweet. :D

Yeah its nice i think it goes up to 1500+ for beating stronger mons.

theres a gym in my town thats in the heart of Instinct territory, every night i take it but lose it again without 10 mins, someone put a chansey in it last night and then i added my pokemon and my wifes pokemon to it and its actually still a Red gym, not sure whether instinct have left it alone (seems unlikely) or chansey has succesfully held them off for over 24hrs (also seems unlikely) but somehow that Chansey is still in that gym

Idk chansey is good at leveling up your own gym not at holding it they probably are over that gym lol ive noticed a lot of people stopped playing. The gym near my apartment used to be all valor with 1500+ pokemon all the time now its held by mystic with a top 1400 vaporeon.

From what I have battle with my Chansey 367cp, it is equilvent to about 1,000cp strength.

Except it's not. There's no equivalence for CP ratio. It is what it is. Your CP300 Chansey is NOT the same as a CP1000 Snorlax.

Chansey is absolute trash for gym battles. Its attack stat is lower than a Magikarp's. Not kidding.

The only reason it has any CP at all is because of its massive HP pool, which doesn't do much for you when you're literally a punching bag.

That's true.

I have a CP375 HP307 Chansey with 120damage Hyperbeam. Would it take a while to wait for maxing out energy to release the Hyperbeam?

With the massive HP, I expect to unleash the beam 3-4 times before it goes down.

Hyper Beam does a lot of damage on its own, sure. But again, Chansey has horrific stats. It has practically nonexistent attack stats (read: LESS than a Magikarp's). And just because it has a ton of HP doesn't mean much. It has no defense stats to go with it. I doubt you're going to fire out three Hyper Beams unless you're fighting sub-CP300 Caterpies and Weedles or equivalent Pokémon with abysmal stats.

Chansey in Pokémon GO behaves similarly to Chansey in the core series games. Just poke it once with any physical move and it deflates like a balloon, even with perfect stats. And because there's no discrepency between physical and special attacks in Pokémon GO, Chansey will melt to practically anything remotely competitive in the game.

Obviously you can use whatever Pokémon you want in a gym, but if you actually want to make any sort of impact, a Chansey isn't going to get you anywhere. ESPECIALLY on offense. Chansey is a trophy Pokémon known for its rarity, not its combat potential. Maybe when Blissey becomes available we can revisit this matter.

P.S. I guess if your goal is solely for prestige leveling, you can use a Chansey to solo a horrible ~CP1000 Pokémon for fast experience. There's only value in this if you have a coordinated team with the ability to fill the gym up fast with a proper lineup.
