Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

I've already seen the movie. On the day it came out.....ooooo I love those Oompa Loompas!!! They're cool

Nah, I don't know. Most things don't beat the originals/first one, like sequels.

The new one just freaks me out for some reason. o_O I think it's because Johnny Depp looks a bit weird.

Nothing will beat the orignal, nor' will anything beat the book,
but Tim Burtons adaptation of the is very unique, Depp did do a great job as Willy Wonka, yet his fandom will bring down fans of the film to just fans of him, the film was amazing, but nothing beats the original.

Y'know, the original film was a really low-budget compared to the new one. in the original the river of chocolate was mud and the squirrels were puppets or something. in the new one the chocolate river is real (yum!) and the squirrels are real, and have been trained.
Jonny Depp also freaks me out in this one. He's a great actor, but he looks just scary as Willy Wonka.

Low-budget does NOT mean the films going to be bad.
I take it you've never seen the first film, you have some very wild ideas about it, it was made a very long time ago and the stuff the used was amazing for then. There was no puppets or mud >.>

I never said the original film was bad. Actually, to be honest I never even saw the first film. But I've been told that there was mud (meh, I'm not so sure about the puppets) in the original, and know the other stuff for fact.
And I agree, just coz a film is low budget doesn't make it bad. most of my fav films were low budget ones.

It was not mud. There were no squirrels in that movie. Instead, they had the Golden Geese.

Anyways, I finally saw Charlie And The Chocolate Factory 2 days ago. It's freakin awesome. It was funny. I like the cannibalism thing. However, it's not nearly as good as the original. No one can top Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. *goes off singing Pure Imagination*

Johnny Depp looks like Michael Jackson in the movie. xD
O.o I've heard that before.

Never saw the original but I liked Johnny Depp, he was really crazy. A bit too much so. XD *has a new role model*

I watched this movie. It got me addicted to it. So I thought to myself, I'll rent/buy the DVD when it comes out. Yeah, it was really funny.

Erica, Kura and I saw it a few day ago (although, Erica had seen it already earlier).

It was more true to the book than the original, which is a good thing. It looked fantastic, as does all of Mr. Burton's films. I enjoyed the Oompa Loompas more in this one. The lyrics for their were taken straight from the book (thank you Danny Elfman), and not new creations like in the original, and each song had a different style (the Beatles caught me off gaurd). Although annoying, I do miss the "Oompa Loompa doopidy doo, I've got another riddle for you" stuff. But, at least they weren't orange.

The only weak point I think was Wonka himself. I love Johnny Depp, but...he made Wonka creepy, really creepy. It reminded me of Michael Jackson, white face, the hair cut, saturday morning educational television voice. So, I have this image of Michael Jackson in my head and then Wonka asks if Charlie would want to abandon his parents and live with him in his fantasy land house, this does not trigger good thoughts in my head. @@

In the original, Wonka was great. Right from that scene where he walks out of his factory with a cane to greet the children. He collapses and recovers by going into a somersault. From that point on, you don't know if Wonka is good or bad, lying or not, he's a complete mystery. And that is good for film, I say that as I cannot remember how Wonka was like in the book. But this time, we just get this creepy character, and I did not like that at all.

If everything in this movie stayed exactly the same, but had the original Willy Wonka in it (minus the singing), and included the brilliant cane scene, it would've been great. Not that it wasn't. It still was, and was truer to the book...it just lacked the magical whimsy feeling the original had, it can't be duplicated.

I'm addicted to a single song on this movie's soundtrack. I didn't care for it the first time I heard it, but when I saw the movie again with Triffy and Kura the other day...I got obsessed. xD; It's the song that plays in the very beginning. It's so good. *<3s Danny Elfman*

I can't remember anything about the old movie, though I'm sure I've seen it at some point in my life. I really, really like the new version, though. @_@ I wanna see it again, but I don't want to spend so much money at the theatres so I'll probably force myself to wait until it's out on DVD. xD;
