Tailow, Quick Attack! Dodge that Electric-attack!
"Tailow, dodge the Shock Wave with Quick Attack!" But as soon as the words leave your mouth, you realise that you've made a tactical error. Wattson smiles.
"Sorry kid, but Manetric's Shock Wave is an attack that cannot be dodged." The Shock Wave blasted Tailow, knocking it out. You return it and send out Mudkip. "I get it now. You're just a greenhorn. You should give up now, before your Mudkip gets seriously hurt."
You look around desperately. Above you is a chandelier, to you left is a wall and to your right is the Gym's electricity generator. Manetric begins charging a Shock Wave. You could try Mud-Slapping it, which could work and lower his accuracy. Or you could use the environment to your advanatage. Or you could try a Potion. Whatever you do, you have to think carefully about it. Picking the wrong move here will cost you the battle.

Your Options
-Mud-Slap up.
-Mud-Slap to the left.
-Mud-Slap to the right.
-Charge with Mud-Slap, into the Shock Wave.
-Use a Potion
-Surrender.

I agree with Dragonite (for once...).

Right: Hit the generator!

Oh wow, pretty even spread this time around. Think carefully before voting - this is the choice that will make or break the battle.

Mud-Slap Up - 0
Mud-Slap Right - 2
Mud-Slap Left - 0
Charge with Mud-Slap - 1
Use a Potion - 0
Surrender - 1

Chose wisely!

mud Slap to the right.

I just like maiing these decisions quick and easy XD.

Mud-Slap to the Right
Time is running out and Mudkip Mud-Slaps the generator to the right. It shatters, the lights turn off and a few small sparks come flying out. That's it. Uh oh. Manetric launches the Shock Wave, it slams Mudkip, who goes flying to your feet and faints. You've lost.
"Well that wasn't a bad effort, for a beginner." says Wattson. "Try again a little later perhaps, once you become a stronger and smarter trainer."

Later, as you're emerging from the Pokemon Centre, you see Wattson come hurtling out of the Gym.
"Oh, it's you!" he says, coming over, "I've had a report. Slateport City has been taken over by them. Truth be told, I could use all the help I could get. Do you want to come with me?"

Your Options
-Head north to Route 111.
-Head with Wattson to Slateport.

totally - Head with Wattson to Slateport, this will probably advance the plot in the right direction and who knows you might pick up some tricks from him.

Head to Slateport with Wattson
You decide that you might as well go with the Electric Gym Leader on the journey to Slateport City. The two of you set off south onto Route 110.
"So who's them exactly?" you ask.
"Team Aqua. One of Hoenn's two main villainous gangs. They're a ruthless gang of thugs - I heard their goal was to expand the sea or something ridiculous like that."
"Team Aqua... I've met one of them before, yesterday."
"Then you'd already know how ruthless they can be. Honestly, it's not hard to imagine why they'd pick Slateport to attack - it's connected to the sea, and isn't protected by a Gym Leader like most of Hoenn's other main cities." You're feeling nervous now. The report said that there were a lot of these guys. "Anyway..." says Wattson, "We'd better stop here for the night." You've made decent progress - you're about half-way to Slateport. "I'll set up the tents - I think you had better prepare your team for tomorrow."
"Isn't the Slateport thing urgent?"
"Yes, but we won't be any use if we run in there fatigued. So we'll rest up tonight and head into town early morning tomorrow."
You head into the trees, with some time on your hands. There are a lot of wild Pokemon around, but this could also be a good chance to train up your existing team members. What do you want to do?

Your Options
-Training Session! (Note: Training Sessions increase each team member's level by 3)
-Battle a wild Zigzagoon
-Battle a wild Poochyena
-Battle a wild Electrike
-Battle a wild Gulpin
-Battle a wild Oddish
-Battle a wild Plusle
-Battle a wild Minun
