"Swellow! Wing Attack the middle one!" Swellow nods, and zooms in, slashing the Tropius. The look of Winona's face says it all - you picked the right Tropius. Tropius cries out, then collapses. The scent fades, and the wild Pokemon gradually leave.
"You're smarter than you look... Tropius would have to be the one at the centre in order to spread the centre among all the Pokemon... Not to mention that the wild Pokemon would naturally gather around the Tropius emitting the scent."
"Sweeelow!" says Swellow happily.
"But I'm not done yet! Altaria!"

"You're actually pretty tough. But Altaria isn't gonna yield easily, kid. Do you have what it takes to go all the way?" Swellow flies down to perch on your head. It doesn't seem to wanna show any weakness, but you can tell it's weak now. What will you do?

aargh, where's the Ice beam when you need it?

oh well, we might as well soda pop while we're here, because Swellow is really our only bet...

Other possibilities:

Breloom - Stun Spore + Leech seed will mean Swellow will have a HUGE advantage over Altaria, but Breloom won't last long...

Sableye - our mischeivous little fellow is almost the same level as Altaria, and has the power of Fake out and Faint attack...
 
Soda Pop!

Dragonbreath might paralyse Swellow and activate Guts. If we switch to Breloom Altaria will just use Safeguard.
 
I say we use a Soda Pop. Swellow Is our beat option as we don't have to worry about Earthquake.

You give Swellow another can of the fizzy drink.
"Hmph. You're lucky that the Pokemon League forbids Gym Leaders to use healing items... Aerial Ace!" Before Swellow has even finished drinking, Altaria sends it skidding backwards in the dirt. "Aerial Ace, again! End this fast!" Altaria flies at Swellow again. Swellow manages to counter the swift Altaria with a Wing Attack, and the two Pokemon hit each other. "Then Dragonbreath!" Blue fire begins to spill from Altaria's mouth as it charges the attack... Swellow lies in the dirt, and you're unsure whether it could get up in time... what will you do?

You give yet another Soda Pop to Swellow. He flies back up into the air, only to be immediately blasted back down by the Dragonbreath.
"Give it up. You're just stalling for time now. Dragonbreath!" cries Winona. Another blast sends Swellow back to the ground for about the ten billionth time. It tries to get back up, but can't. "And now its been paralysed. End this boring battle, Altaria! Aerial Ace!" Altaria zooms at Swellow, preparing to deliver the knockout blow. Now what will you do?

Swellow should have more of a chance.

"C'mon Swellow! Quick Attack!" Swellow rises, eyes glowing red, and blasts through the air, clashing head-on with Aerial Ace. The two continue charging into each other for a moment, before Swellow finally gives up and falls to the ground, completely exhausted after fighting Tropius and Altaria.
"Hmm... Swellow's Guts allowed it to deal some actual damage while paralysed... Well this is your last Pokemon coming up. Chose wisely." You notice that Winona has lost the confidence she had a few minutes. You glance at Altaria - it actually seems to have a few injuries. You realise that while Swellow as at a disadvantage a few minutes ago, Altaria is now on the bottom foot - A few solid hits should finish it. Who do you want to send out?

Sableye it is then. Our only other option was revive Swellow.

You decide to use Sableye as your third and final battle.
"Fake Out!" Sableye slams Altaria, making it flinch.
"Aerial Ace!" Altaria stabs Sableye in the stomache with its beak, sending it staggering. "Next up, Dragonbreath!" The blue fire is launched once more.
"Detect!" Sableye's eyes glow, and he jumps clear of the attack as it hits the ground. He is quickly slammed by another Aerial Ace, which gives Sableye a close-up opening to attack and finish Altaria... But which attack will Sableye use?
