Circuit City is shutting down

The Circuit Cities in the whole state of Georgia cleared out a few months ago. I bought many things, such as DS games and a digital camera.

This is terrible.
I quite enjoyed them, as they held quality products, unlike Best Buy.
I wish that this had not happened, but it was predictable with the poor state of the economy.
God help us all.

this is old news good thing i have no circuit city near me

Unfortunately for me, the Circuit City near me closed and I won't experience closeout savings. I never shopped there anyway.

Best Buy's Geek Squad is the Antichrist of customer service. It doesn't matter what store or even what state you're in.

I have had the misfortune of two of my laptops being warrantied with Best Buy, because my dad (who bought them) likes Best Buy for some ungodly reason. The first one I got maybe 5 years ago (I have since given it away to a friend). One day a little piece from where the power cord plugs into the laptop broke off and was rattling around inside the computer. I took it in to have it fixed, and they refused to fix it in the store and I was forced to let them send it off to some place in Texas for 4 weeks just for some simple little busted piece. When I finally got it back, a week later it just stopped working and wouldn't turn on. I took it back. Another 4 weeks in Texas. At least it didn't have any more problems.

The second laptop is the one I'm currently using, that I got as a high school graduation gift. Two weeks after I got it, it stopped recognizing the CD-ROM drive, so I took it in. My brother had recently got a new laptop, and had the same problem. His had to spend 4 weeks in Texas, so I forced the guy to fix it in the store.

Sometime early last year or late the previous year, my hard drive went bad, so I took it in (at this point I'd moved to a different state). I didn't have any choice but to let them send it away that time. Four weeks later I got it back (funny thing is, they always tell you 2-4 weeks, but it's never been a day less than 4). It worked great for several months, but then I started having weird problems, and discovered my motherboard was bad (this was just this past summer).

The warranty was up by then, so I went to Circuit City's Firedog this time, thinking "anybody but Geek Squad, I don't care," and was so pleasantly surprised at how friendly, helpful, and dedicated the customer service people were. The guy even suggested ways to back up my data and helped with contacting HP, because the motherboard thing was actually a manufacturing defect. Luckily it was still under that warranty.

It is a sad day indeed when Prick Squad has become pretty much the only option for electronic repair. RIP Circuit City.

The Circuit City near us closed even before our economy started going bad. So it's been GameStop for games and Best Buy for DVD's, computers, and video equipment ever since.

I do have to agree that Best Buy's Geek Squad sucks. When my laptop screen broke, they took my computer for two and a half weeks. Then, when they called me and told me it was ready, I had to wait in the store for three hours while they tried to find it. And THEN it turns out they somehow lost the AC adaptor plug, so they replaced it with a generic one where the thing doesn't fit securely in the jack. It'll come out by itself and drain the battery.

EDIT: Just like the plug just did 30 seconds ago>:/
