Completing my first ever team

This is my first time ever setting up a team to battle, so I'm a total noob and in the last few days I've been reading a lot about strategies and what is viable but I've sort of hit a wall. Last time I played pokemon was Crystal so I've got very limited knowledge on all pokemon that have come after that generation. I started by putting 2 of my most favourite pokemon in the team which are Skarmory and Dragonite and then I went on to choose Rotom-W as a lead and Mega Mawile as another physical sweeper. I then realized that I needed someone to spin after reading about the dangers of stealth rock and flying pokemon but I can't decide what type of roles and Pokemon I should use in the remaining slots! I feel very confused and it's like I hit a wall so I would appreciate some of your input.

    Physical Sweeper

    Dragonite @ Lum Berry
    (Adamant)
    Multiscale
    EVs: 252 Atk/6 SpD/252 Spe

    - Dragon Dance
    - Fire Punch or Thunder Punch
    - Outrage
    - Earthquake or Roost?

    Lead/Bulky Electric

    Rotom-W@Choice Specs or Scarf?
    (Modest)
    Levitate
    EVs: 6 Def/252 SpA/252 HP
    -Hydro Pump
    -Thunder Wave or Thunderbolt?
    -Volt Switch
    -Trick

    Physical Wall + Spikes

Skarmory@No idea where to get shed shell
    (Impish)
    Sturdy
    EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/6 SpD

    -Brave Bird
    -Spikes
    -Whirlwind
    -Roost

    Physical Sweeper

    Mawile@mawilite
    (Adamant)
    Intimidate
    EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/6 SpD

    -Iron head
    -Play rough
    -Sucker Punch
    -Swords Dance or Fire fang?

These are the pokemon that I want in my team because I really really like them. I need a bit of help in terms of the 2 other slots and if I should change anything to improve the above Pokemon. I was already looking at some possibilities like maybe Starmie as a spinner/special sweeper or the more tanky Tentacruel with toxic and scald to put statuses up. If there are any redundant pokemon in my team I won't feel offended if you say so! I'm a total noob! I really wanted Goodra aswell in my team because it's just lovely <3 but I think that would create too many weaknesses in my team :(

So far I only managed to breed a Dragonite and Skarmory in terms of IVs, Egg Moves and ready to go.

A spinner is probably a good idea. But I recommend Tentacruel instead of Starmie. Tentacruel is bulkier, and most importantly, absorbs Toxic Spikes. Then it can spin away Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Sticky Web. So:

    *smogon.com link removed*
    -Tentacruel w/Black Sludge
    Nature: Timid
    Ability: whatever you can get
    EVs: 248 HP, 244 Defense, 16 Speed
Moves: Rapid Spin, Scald, Substitute, Sludge Bomb/Toxic/Toxic Spikes

You have to chain breed to get Rapid spin on a Tentacruel (breed a Squirtle/Wartortle/Blastoise with Rapid Spin with a Kabuto, then breed that with a Tentacool), but its very nice. The set gives it the most overall bulk.

Then let's put a special sweeper into your team, to try and round it out. What to put in....

Lets try Volcarona, because Volcarona is boss (can't wait to transfer mine to Y when the PokeBank is released):

[PokeCommunity.com] Completing my first ever team

    -Volcarona w/Life Orb
    Ability: Flame Body
    Nature: Modest/Timid
EVs: 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Defense
Moves: Quiver Dance, Bug Buzz, Hurricane/Giga Drain, special-based fire attack of your choice

Its very simple: Quiver Dance, then render everything to ashes. If you can wait till PokeBank, you can get one with Giga Drain, which is a great move for it. If not, Hurricane works fine. It also pairs well with Tentacruel, who spins away the rocks it doesn't like, and resists water attacks for it.

Fire Fang should be used over Iron Head, IMO, since hitting other Steels may be more important than hitting other Fairies.

Also, Starmie is still viable, as it can get rid of status (including poison) by switching out via Natural Cure.

Thanks for your input, you've already been a great help. That's one pokemon(Volcarona) I didn't even know about but it's stats look really great and I might have overlooked it considering I always avoided bug pokemon in the past.

Also Platinum thanks about the suggestion regarding mawile. I think that would be a really wise decision with the amount of steel based walls since I want to use mawile in a way to destroy walls without hurting my less defensive pokemon in the process of doing so.
