Computer Chit Chat

I think Shockwave is Windows and Mac only, as I can't access it on Kubuntu. You'd need something like WINE, a Windows emulator, to use it. Wine is the free one.

There are also some that you have to pay for, like VMWare. WINE does what I need it to, though.

Personally, I think Vista is the next ME, to many things will be not right with it.

On to the RAM issue...RAM is sometimes hard to judge. At work we have these 1.6GHz Pentium 4's on 256MB SDRAM and man they stink, I was able to upgrade the model I have to 512 SDRAM and it made a big difference, but going to 768 didn't make a huge difference. Then we have these 1.8GHz Pentium 4's on DDR Ram and there even worse then the 1.6's, and even with 512MB they don't seem to operate totally well. Some food for thought, the newest computers were getting are 3.0 GHz Intel P4's and they are now putting an GB of DDR2 ram in them.

At home here I run an GB of PC2700 and I also didn't notice a big difference when I only had 512MB. In the junk computer I have in my room I now have 384MB and didn't notice a big differece when I went from 256MB, only a bit faster.
