So me and five or so of my friends are having a tournament for RBY versions of the pokemon games. We have to the end of Christmas break and the rules are as follows:
    Limit 60 hrs played max
No cheats/ glitches of any kind
Legendarys are a loud like mewtwo

I haven't played the game since I was a kid but I have red version and I was hoping I could get a basic strategy consisting of the most efficient way to use my time, level, assemble a team, and have moves picked out.

I am very inexperienced but I have beaten the game a long time ago and I remember a lot of things which I will hopefully pick back up on my play through. The only thing I know is to turn off battle animations and make text fastest possible. Other then that I don't have a solid plan. So my question is what would you do? Thanks so much for your time.

Get a Magikarp as early as possible. It evolves into one of the strongest Pokemon of that generation. Also, start with Bulbasaur. That early type advantage over the first two gyms will help considerably. And get a Psychic type on your team. Are you allowed to trade with someone to evolve a Pokemon? If so, you should get an Abra and when it evolves into Kadabra, trade it with someone and get it back from them so it can evolve as early as possible in Alakazam.

In my current Blue version file, with a play time of just over 33 hours and having just beaten the Pokemon League for the third time, I have a team as such:
    Gyarados Lv. 52
    Dugtrio Lv. 48
    Pidgeot Lv. 44
    Raichu Lv. 50
    Alakazam Lv. 48
    Venusaur Lv. 44

The all-stars of this team are Gyarados, Alakazam, and Raichu. The other 3 have their roles, but they're mainly for specific Pokemon in the Pokemon League.

I got the team by battling every trainer and wild Pokemon I encountered, except when I really needed to heal. I also usually buy tons of healing items whenever I can (primarily Potions) to enable me to go further before having to turn around and heal.

Are you basically trying to build the strongest team possible for the tournament? You should consider either buying or catching a Dratini as well.

Don gave you a pretty good run down, but if you have any more questions, please ask in the Q&A thread stickied at the top of this section. Thanks!

    Locked.
