weedle_mchairybug, why the hell do you feel the need to bash on anything that Misty isn't in?
What makes you think that this had anything to do with Misty? I mean, even IF Misty was still on the show, and even IF she participated in at least one contest, my viewpoint would NOT change.
I didn't bash any of Ash's leagues despite Misty not participating, which if I was truly bashing anything Misty isn't in, I would have done that.
Besides, the only time I EVER directly referenced Misty was in the previous post, and that was just in respons to what Visne Tanrica said about what she did.
Though since you brought up Misty, get ready to rumble.
You find a reason to believe and say that contests are sexist? And somehow shows that girls are only good for being moms, cleaners? WHAT THE HELL DOES CONTEST HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MOTHERING/CLEANING?
Yes, I have found reason to believe this. I actually noticed this ever since I saw how most of the main girls, even Marina and Jessie, now have to do Pokemon Contests, thus making Gyms seem like it's only a boys thing now. Heck, as I noticed, Brock and Ash never got replaced when Misty did.
As for the reason why I think Contests have ties to that. It's simple, it's something known as Gender Discrimination. I have been opposed to this sort of thing since I first bore witness to it. It's like how in Beauty and the Beast, the males seemed to actually have jobs whileas the only thing the girls seemed to do were basically make babies, be the mens toy, and nothing else, or how Gaston has stated that Women should never read or anything like that.
It's also like the portrayal of virtually every single female in Love Hina. THAT'S What I'm trying to convey. I cited a Baby Blues cartoon to further my point (Where Zoe says she wanted to be a Cheerleader because in her mindset "Boys are Doctors and Girls are Cheerleaders", thus forcing Wanda to explain that girls can be doctors, or anything else they want.), but it seems as though you guys ignored it or didn't read it.
Ash seems to enjoy contests. He's not a girl nor gay (well maybe ..but not flameboyantish).
He may not mind them, but he certainly doesn't enjoy them either. In order for him to actually enjoy it, he would actually do contests in a far more regular manner than he is currently and actually express an intrest (he only did three Pokemon Contests. One was in May's final appearance just so he can have something to do to kill time, the second was for Aipom's sake, and the third time was just to help train Buizel in a calibur that it can handle [he even expressed that he does NOT desire to be a coordinator, and that Aipom was a special case in the episode where he met Kenny.].).
Contests are a great addition to the show, to have the co-star girls do something other than just follow Ash (which sadly, Misty got stuck doing) which is why I think you're angry at contests, because May/Dawn are more important than Misty ..cause they actually have a goal. That's why I think you're all negative about contests overall. :] say all you want, be we all know the truth, eheh.
Misty had a goal. It was to be the world's greatest Water Pokemon Master, and it was certainly more of a goal than Brock's breeder goal, seeing how unlike Brock's goal, her goal to be a WPM was actually focused on, and did FAR more than just follow Ash around. Even IF she didn't any sort of goal at all, that has absolutely nothing to do with my hatred of May, Dawn, and Pokemon Contests. My hate for May and Dawn is because they are sexist stereotypes. If Misty was still on the Show, had what you would call an actual goal, and they became a member of the main cast, and they still acted the way they did, I still would have hated them, regardless of whether they themselves had an actual goal or not.
