Hur. So I'm known to most people online as Urya, though I'm Bas to friends, and err, the real world and such. I'm currently 19 years old and am attending the Dutch variant of a Journalism Academy. It being Dutch because I live in Holland and such.

So why'd I join this place? Like everyone else I used to play Pokémon when I was, err, 8 years old or so. I got into it and was considered a "strong trainer" by my fellow toddlers because I had a level 60 Kadabra, oh joy! 8D

But by the time I went to high school, I somewhat dropped Pokémon. I played it casually and tried the games out each time there was a new big-time RPG, but often dropped it because it felt childish and uncool to play.

That somewhat changed a few months ago by a combination of not giving a **** about others anymore, a friend dragging me into the endgame stuff and a girlfriend who's a fully-fledged Pokémon geek. I got into the Pearl, got hooked and am now looking into the competitive online scene, which is looking a lot more awesome than I ever gave it credit for.

So long story short: I recently came out of the closet as a Pokétard and am hoping to find people with a simmilar mentality considering competitive play. I'm pretty much a n00b, but hoping to learn~

You've come to the right place Urya.. You'll fit in very well here =) Don't worry about it.

Interesting story by the way, it does take a lot of courage to admit that you like pokemon, especially since it's stereotyped for 8 year olds.

Anyway, welcome to PC, hope you enjoy your stay. I trust you already read the rules... if not, go right ahead xD

    See you around...

I've skimmed through the rules, most are already second nature to me due to already posting on a ton of forums and such. xD

Thanks for the welcome anyway~ I'll be sure to stick
When you say competitive play you mean WIFI battling and such.
Yep, I mean Wi-Fi. I heard about Shoddy and such, but I like the idea of everyone putting a ton of effort into getting their team together in the game.

First, I don't think you're a n00b. As a matter of fact, I don't think anyone would think you're a n00b at all. Seeing as how you type properly, you seem to be just a new member. So, you're just a newbie. Nothing wrong with that. Since you're willing to learn the ropes here, that decreases the probability of you being a "n00b".

First, it's interesting to know someone from Holland. I know two, maybe three people that live in Holland. I know that doesn't contribute to the conversation, but it does help us get to know you, and that helps us out when replying to your introduction. Hmm, Journalism you say? I find that facinating, though that may be hard to believe, but nevertheless, I do. Journalism is probably going to end up being my back up major when I attend whatever university I end up going to.

I think everyone here has gone through the same thing you have. We have all gone through that phase when we didn't like Pokemon and then we did, and then we didn't, etc., etc. I do like how you decided to tell people, I admire that. Not many people I know came out of that said closet and let the people they knew know that they plan Pokemon. I know I am one of those people who get embaressed because I'm not that high on the social hiearchy at school as is, but regardless. I go through some phases where I just don't care what people think about me. Although I don't care what people online have to say about me unless I have come to know them (even though I still respect them), chances are, I'm not going to ever see them or talk to them again after time moves on.

This seems so strange, it seems like something I would have typed, excluding a few sentences and changing a few words. I got back into Pokemon when Diamond and Perl came out. I grew obsessed with it for that matter and wanted to find some roms and rom hacks so I could play on the computer until I had a chance to play on my DS, which I got with the game a few months ago.

You seem to be a really smart guy, Urya, so I'm not going to waste time telling you things you already know. You know, read the rules, etc. and other things other people already told you since even if you didn't read them when you joined, I'm sure after you had read the thread again, you would have went to the rules.

    Best Wishes on your journey,
    Lettursnnumburs

And I mean that in the nicest way possible. Seriously.

Glad to have you back in the Pokemon fandom, and may you enjoy your stay here at PC.

And just remember that if you think you're a n00b, there's probably someone much, much worse. (A friend of mine once battled someone using a Deoxys. Who used Secret Power three times. On a Ghost-type. That just gets the special gold star of FAIL right there. So, uh, yeah, if you're aware of type matching, then I really think there's worse battlers out there than you, so don't worry about it.)

You've already sniped me >:O assisted me in closing a thread here in NU/W, so knew your not the average... mmm... 'new user.' Actually, I happen to know a couple of Dutch users around here, most of them my greatest friends in fact. Ha ha, the good old "competitive" days where your level determined victory in most cases. XD; Lv.60 Kadabra? I cAn beat chu wit m3 DugtrIO! 8D I followed the same path really, drop it by high school deal, pick up a DS, surf the net to find the vast hidden strategy of the game that you really never noticed. It's interesting to think, no clue of competitive battling, and once you see it... Your either tainted by the thought and ruins your experience on the game in general, or have a game you can never let go. Greetings Urya, welcome to the outside (or rather, device to harness you to a computer screen) The PC competitive battling buffet is down the hall, take a left to S&M. Jokes aside, welcome to PokéCommunity. :D

Heh, thanks for the flattering welcoming. So you're intending on picking Journalism as a major yourself, huh? If you don't mind me asking, what's your motivation?
Hi urya! I just joined here myself, hope you make tons of good RPs and have fun!
Thanks, and you have fun too~ Always good to see a fellow Rockman fanboy join. 8D

Heh. xD I've got most of the type matching in my head, it's one of those things you learn when you're 8 years old and never forget. There's still some stuff that I end up confusing with, not to mention all the double-type Pokémon that make it seem more complex, but I'll get there~

Yeah, I tend to be a wannabe mod when posting on forums where I'm not actually a mod. xD Bad habit of mine. And Lololwut? MaI KaDaBRa > any DugtrIO!!! DDDD:

Aaaanyway, thanks for all of your posts~ I didn't expect that people would actually bother looking into an introduction topic and take their time to reply to them. All that is really motivating me to do my best and be active.
