Creating a Pokedex

Hey, If I was to create a Pokedex. Where would I be able to obtain all the Pokemon information, without breaking rules etc. I need to know what would be a good source of data, also a sourse of graphics that would be allowed to be used for the Pokedex.

I don't mind using resources that require a link back to websites that provide information. :)

Any suggestions?

well, you could use AR for the data, but that would be using a cheat.

I mean to create a XHTML/CSS website based Pokedex, not on a game. :)

I am guessing everyone copies off it from Nintendo anyways, so I thought I would ask where everyone gets their information from legally. ;)

Some of us just get it from other dex sources, to be honest. I used to leech right from PPN's dex data. But why would you want to make a Pokedex anyway? veekun.com kills all competition. <_<

It's public information so you don't need to cite other dex's when you get information, no harm done~

The only reason a new Pokedex should come up is if someone wanted to own us all with a really slick interface that had significantly faster loading times.

A comprehensive dex that has EVERYTHING would be nice...

That is correct Koroku, I always have to visit both PsyPokes and Serebii for my information.

So collecting information from other dexes would be okay? What about sprite resources?

That's a fast-loading and sleek Pokedex with just about everything that kills competition, Koroku.

Nobody is copyright the official Pokemon sprites, so whoever wants credit for the sprites they better cry me a river.

However, it takes time and effort to rip out the sprites, so credit would be nice.

And Veekun was/is missing some stuff... at least back when I was trying to make my dex.

Or those that came up with the attack names... or what levels each Pokemon would learn them....
