Hey all, this is my first time trying out making a rom hack. What I want to do seems pretty simple on the surface, but may be more difficult than expected. I found another rom hack that does something similar, but I'm looking for a little guidance on my specifics.

I'd like to modify Radical Red just a bit. I'm wondering if it's possible to allow the user to select the wild pokemon they will encounter in real time. For example, let's say that the user types in "Genesect". The next wild Pokemon they encounter would then be Genesect.

This isn't exactly what I'm trying to do, but this is the crux of what I'm wondering is possible. Does anyone have any experience doing something similar and is willing to offer some assistance?

Hacking an existing Hack is not so easy. You have to know what and where the creator changed to even make a start. Plus what you're wanting to do is some pretty high end coding I'd imagine. Even on a Vanilla ROM it'd be tough to implement I'd espouse.

You could easily cheese it by using script tiles and wildbattle commands, but if you really want genuine grass-activated wild battles it'd be much more difficult.
