The Group Memberships section has been on profiles for over a year now, yet there still aren't any groups available to join. I don't see the point in having it there if it's not being used in the slightest way. Any chance you guys could add some groups, or if not, remove that section from profiles?

Y'know, it won't be too bad to have a few member groups, maybe like Rom Hackers, Manga Readers, Gamers, Artists or something, where a member can join like, 2 or 3 at the most.

But eh.. my ideas. =P Oh and it doesn't look like the Group Memberships box has disappeared from the profiles Mr. Winstrate. That WAS what you did right?

He took it out of the userCP... I don't think there's a way to take it out of the profiles.

I agree, it wouldn't hurt to have some. I'd be fun to see~

Agreed, I was woundering about that option when I first came here. I like the idea of user groups, it just add's a nice touch to the user profiles and it shows a members like for something ^_^

Uh huh.. I could make a list of all possible groups for PC, based on the ones I've already posted.
I see, but I never noticed the group thing in the UserCP either. >_<

Well, I think having user groups is a good idea. So u can join the groups that fit with u the best, and others can see what groups u joined.

I think we should have usergroups. You know, like for fanclubs and the such. Maybe even a 'spritemaker' or 'Rper' type of group, to show your interests.

A roleplaying group, that's a good idea. As in, you need to submit a sample and then the RP mods need to approve you before you can access the forum.

...does it have a reason field?

I'm a bit wary about this, PC is cliquish enough as it is; making it more visible isn't going to help things.

Usergroups with special powers other than mods/elected officials should just be invisible...special rules for forum entry and such work just as well without it being this public.

Meh. I guess you're right. Cliques could equal more tension I guess. Usergroups can have special powers? I didn't know that o.o

Yes, they can...think about the DCC forum; we created a usergroup that could be excluded from that forum but allowed at the rest of PC if need be, that was the purpose we stated behind it. Someone banned from that forum is put into a special usergroup, but it doesn't appear by their custom title (as far as I know o_o; I do know we have a couple of usergroups that are visible only in the Mod CP, though.)

Whoa. So they ARE being used but are invisible to normal members. I never knew you could be excluded from one forum...but then again, that's probably how the mod lounge works, right?

Well, to make sure there's no 'rank' or clique problem, maybe instead of having powers it could be like interests are in Livejournal, you know, just to show what you like and what other people like what you like. That would help out newbies not be so confused when they join PC.

If you followed my suggestion correctly, then no, it shouldn't show up.

Edit: Chibi, exactly, with the exception that SMods can exclude people from the forum as the admins would promote people.

Pretty much. Premissions can be set in the adminCP. The no-DCC-forum usergroup will have no premission to see the DCC forum; normal members/community supporters will have no premission to see the Mod Lounge.

    I thought that was what we were talking about? o_o;

    Yeah. I think so...

But all I'm trying to say here is that Usergroups should be like Livejournal's interests. You know, because that would help newbies out and let people make new friends. Yeah. If that would be into consideration....

I was just advising people in general against the idea.

Well, we already have interests in our profiles, so that would make it somewhat redundant. When I first came I always assumed that it was for listing what clubs you were in to clear up space in your signature...the purpose has always been vague.

But with Usergroups, you can also see others who have the same interests as you. So, you could just take the Interests option out XP Meh, it'd help the newbies feel less out in the open.

Same here ._. Well, there are more links to people and forums than there are clubs so yeah. That doesnt take up the majority of sigs.

See, this is the only vB board I've ever been to, so I don't know the full extent of its power XD If it's so much like LJ then I wouldn't mind the feature; I mean I'm sure some people would find them convenient. It might work good for things such as seeing how big of a fanbase there is for something on PC before starting a club; if only to avoid the shame of making a club that dies after one or two replies. I'm sure there are other features that this could assist with as well, come to think of it.

I didn't say that I still thought that was the purpose of member groups..but back when I was a new member people had ALL of their clubs in their signature...see, I don't stay with the current sig trends because I have sigs turned off to help pages load faster. If that fad's long gone then what I said was a moot point, sorry XD
