    Set (mainly) in late 1800s Europe, D. Gray-man is an anime/manga about Allen Walker; an exorcist who can see the souls of the akuma--which translated from Japanese means a "personfication of evil--From Wikipedia"--that contain the lost souls of humans. Walker also has an anti-akuma weapon that is called "innocence" that he uses for combat. There are also an array of other characters with innocence...yeah ^^;; This manga is currenty liscenced by VizMedia's Shonen Jump label, and volumes 1 through 8 are out, I believe. The anime is still unliscenced; although I'm thinking VizMedia will also pick up the series.

    So I found some similarities betwen this series and Fullmetal Alchemist, and with the aid of my best friend, got hooked on this anime and manga series. Are there any other fellow DGM fans on the PokeCommunity? :3?

    I just started watching this series, so I have a long way to go before I get caught up with most other fans, but... I really like it so far! My favorite character is Allen, because he's just so sweet. <3

    I also have to mention that I've been addicted to the third opening. XD; It's actually the reason why I became interested in the series, after I watched it on a friend's journal. The song is so cool.

    I love the manga, it's the first long running series that I've actively collected in quite a while. Allen is such a fun character to watch and the idea behind the innocence intrigues me a lot. Not the biggest fan of the anime though. The animation itself is nice, as is the music (the only reason I found the anime was because a band I like did the first ending - still my favorite piece of music to the series, followed by the second opening and ending), but it has way too much filler. It seems like there were 20 episodes when they didn't know if they wanted to continue to adapt the manga or to take the route that Fullmetal Alchemist did and go for an original story.

    I wouldn't mind an original story too much, my main problem is that so much of the anime original stuff is just filler and doesn't really seem like it goes anywhere. Before I found out that the anime would be running longer than 50 episodes I had no idea how they were going to close the story as it seemed to have no real structure to itself. It's been getting a lot better lately though, I'm just upset that it took such a long time for it to get back on track because those first 25 episodes were really great.

    *coughmyLJcough* XD

    As much as I'd like to watch it, I can't unless it ends up getting dubbed. Of course, I'm sure it will. It's just a matter of when.

    As long as Allen doesn't end up getting a really girly voice. D;

    But I do like watching it in Japanese, I've learnt alot of japanese words now because of it. XD

    Kayleigh: Oh yes! I love the 3rd opening too. XD

    I'm always listening to the song. <3

    Eh, I read the first volume of this and really enjoyed it. But as I picked up the next volumes, I grew tired of the story. I dunno why, it just didn't retain my interest. Sure, I'll pick it up again if I'm in the mood, but not any time soon :/

    I don't recall similarities between this and FMA though. I suppose I just haven't looked into them deeply enough.
