Got stuck in a game, joined out of desperation, really..
But there are some things that would never make me regret it.
trololol.

I came, I saw, I downloaded.

Then I did nothing.

Unlike youauoauoauouaman who is now mod of two sections, one of which he practically created lol.

Hmmm... technically I couldn't do anything B/W related when I signed up because noone had ever thought of B/W's existance at that time :(

Same for Kaori. Ummm, now as for the other mods, idk.

I joined due to shiny gold and to get some useful ROM hacking tools. That was the only purpose behind my registration at this forum. But yeah, after a month, I started posting and it became hard to let go of PC. XD;

...I still don't think there are more than 10 female rom hackers on this site, let alone ones who would sign up to PC for rom hacking. Not saying you're a female, Derozio, but I just started thinking about this. XD;

Well, I never really thought about that, Nica. XD;

So, it was kinda like this: I played SG. I liked SG. Thought that there might be some way Zel did something to some original ROM or something. Thought I'd try it too. Discovered it was something called 'ROM hacking'. Came across this site. Discovered that the emulation board had a lot of awesome tools and tuts. Disappointed that only members could download attachments. Since I needed those tools (which, in the end, only went waste as I never got into ROM hacking), I became a member. I downloaded my stuff and left PC. The end.

...no, not the end. Timeskip time. A month later: Opened up my account. Posted a little in the HG/SS section...and I got hooked. O.o

I... still kinda don't get why ROM hacking interests people, like seriously, it takes so much effort. And with B/W and the ~improved~ graphics, it means older hacks look bad and... idk.

/will leave it to the professionals for me to enjoy games

Yeah, but stuff like B/W wasn't there earlier...and people like me who always wanted a gen II remake went ahead and played SG. A lot of us liked the changes Zel made in the game and probably though 'I'd make my own game with all sorts of wonderful characters like Nica Maly and Sig' or something like that. But yeah, once I came to know about the tediousness of the task and how boring it was, I left it. I lost all the interest.

People rom hack because it provides them an opportunity to showcase their innovation and skill. Graphics isn't everything, you know...

Well, yeah skill... but, I dunno, aren't there other ways to show skill that don't take as long and aren't as confusing? XD;

(Like photography!)

Yeah, you've got a point there. :]

Still, no one can run away from the fact that it is a tedious task.

Not everyone is good at photography, and everybody has different talents. One who might be good at ROM hacking might not be good at photography. And rom hacking itself involves many different fields (spriting, scripting, mapping, etc.).

Also take into consideration Black and White is the first game to have the 3-Dimensional features throughout the whole gameplay of Pokémon. This makes it pretty big for B/W. ;x Not saying this makes it better than the rest of the roms, just graphics is one point positive for the rom of B/W.

How does B/W come into all this? We are talking about rom hacking, were ordinary people are the ones hacking a rom. Though we have some people here who are as talented as the guys at Nintendo.

...sorry to all rom hackers btw. XD; But yeah, the really good ROM Hackers should just go get jobs with Game Freak? :D;

You'd think the games would draw more people into PC rather than hacking them, lol.

Yus Kaori, B/W ftw. /can't wait to play

No matter how much you run away from it, 'graphics' is one major aspect of any game. If it weren't for our greed/lust for better eye candy, we'd be stuck playing Doom even now. Or maybe Dave or something.

That being said, hacks that have good graphics generally appeal to a larger number of people. But because of the fact that the coming generations are getting better and better in terms of graphics, some people may just leave rom hacks, maybe. Idk. Then again, as merv said, these are two different things. So yeah, kinda confused now. XD;

I think that most of the rom hackers just hack during their spare time. But that doesn't mean this this isn't serious business. Just saying... XD;;
